Dems plot to protect Napolitano By: Jake Sherman and John Bresnahan January 8, 2010 03:16 PM EST
Democrats worried about protecting the homeland in wake of the Christmas Day terror plot are also working to protect one of their own: Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
With at least seven congressional committees investigating the failures behind the terror plot, Democrats are carefully gaming out the testimony of Napolitano to spare her from the worst of the GOP criticism.
First, they may shield her from the Senate Judiciary Committee, keeping conservative senators like Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and others from bashing her in a major public forum. She may instead appear before the Senate Commerce Committee, where some expect her to receive gentler treatment.
Next, the White House is working on Sen. Joe Lieberman, the mercurial chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, to avoid an ugly clash in his hearings. Lieberman will grill the secretary but wont call for Napolitano to resign, and he could reiterate his support for her remaining at the DHS post, Senate aides say.
To some extent its going to be a free-for-all; we are as angry as anybody about this, said an aide to a senior Senate Democrat. But apart from saying the wrong thing early on, the breaches arent really the fault of Napolitano and DHS, so shes not going to be the target.

that dead cat wig of hers mouldn’t move in Katrina force winds
Obama and his thugs are pathetic in the way they’ve handled this and the Hasan murders. Napolitano should be gone along with Gen. Casey!
What’s the difference between these people and Al Qaeda? Anyone know?
I hope she does stay there. She’ll continue to make idiotic remarks & by the time 2012 arrives the Republicans can run Porky Pig as the nominee & beat Obama.
Is it time to start saying that dreaded word that the RATs like to throw out like a molotov-cocktail whenever they don’t like something being brewed up behind their backs....”COVERUP”
The head of Al Qauda isn't a bull dyke lesbian?
Yes, did you ever know an office full of incompetent people, especially the boss? They spend all their time and energy and the profits, trying to fix the screw-ups
And this, of course, is the crux of the issue: politics/ideology trumps EVERYTHING. It is true especially of the left but it infects both parties. Personal power and prestige are far, far more important to the political/bureaucratic class than national security. And it goes without saying that fiscal responsibility is a very low priority (pretty much non-existent) when measured against the need to buy votes. In respect to the fiscal aspect I place more of the onus on the GOP than the rats. We expect the rats to act like fools but the GOP has postured as the party of fiscal sanity and they acted as anything but under Bush II.
Dhimmicrat plotz stink.....
And when you take the path that institutionalizes and protects Incompetents, the only thing that one can guarantee, is that not only will there be more attacks, they will be successful attacks, and there will be no hiding the complicity of those who are about to protect the blubber brained political appointees and hirees that facilitated by thier imbecility, the future deaths of Americans.
The only thing the Democrats are good at is gaming the system.
funny, I thought Osama was a bulldyke lesbian?
and Obama too.
The smart thing for the Dems to do is to let her fall on the sword. This is a dumb move, and we should take advantage of it.
let’s send them thru the scanners and get to the bottom of it
Why waste money on hearings? It’s Bush’s fault.
NONE!! There is no difference, apparently........Sadly for America’s Sake!.......:-(
al Qaeda has a cure for that problem.
That’s okay. They need time to practice that song they played when the Titanic went down so they can play it for all the Dems at their big finale:)
