Over past 7 months, Mitt Romneys favor among Republicans has fallen off a cliff.
Monthly surveys by Public Policy Polling shows that Romneys level of support has fallen to just 48% among Republican voters from a high of 67% in May of this year.
Romney polled in the 60s on the first three polls but has not reached that threshold since and now for the first time he's below 50% with the party base. I don't have any theories to explain Romney's popularity slide with Republican voters but it certainly bodes ominous for his 2012 nomination prospects if he can't get it turned around.
The same polling shows Mike Huckabees support staying above 60%, and Sara Palins favorable rating not falling below 69%.

IMO, the Huckster will run in 2012. His ego won’t let him sit this one out.

I was never that high on Romney, but he has fallen even further in my opinion as his MA universal health insurance scheme is closer to becoming a national reality. Ugh

Does flip-flop RINO ring a bell? Not counting putting down Sarah Palin. Who's going to forget that?

Is the “lenty” in your post a reference to Tim Pawlenty? I have no use for him after he let Al Franken steal that senatorial election. What a wuss.

What do you mean “dropping in popularity”? The only ones propping him up are RINOS.
To: nhwingut
Exactly - it becomes increasingly evident that “Romneycare” is an unmitigated disaster and a preview of what may be coming our way. Conservatives want no part of it, nor do they care for Romney’s history of talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Shhhhhhhhhh, Romney supporters want to pretend RomneyCare does not exist
To: delacoert
Romney spent too much time in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts — he just got too much of it all over himself. Mix in his socialistic tendencies and lack of support for Palin and you have the reality with Romney. The electorate has to learn to judge candidates by WHAT THEY DO, not what they say. IMHO, Romneycare was his swan song in conservative circles.

Not counting putting down Sarah Palin.
Doing that (in his underhanded way) is a slam dunk on his 'anti-conservative' stance. Mitt is not for us but against us. He's an underhanded snake in the grass big government politician wearing a mask.
To: delacoert
Romney can run on his Mittcare record.
