Once he said “we are going to lose”, he should have quit. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

So now he is above criticsm?

This is a meltdown.

Who has the power to fire him? Obviously his “ctitics” do not or they would have. Duh.

How about you do your job, and build up the Party, or quit?

Chairwoman? Palin? I think she’d be good there.

I have been bad mouthed for saying this before; I will say it again, though. I would much rather see Palin in the role of conservative king maker right now and for the next 6 years then see her as a presidential candidate in 2012.

Yes, she could help the country in the role of president. That positive would be short lived, as the farm team at lower levels is NOT broadly conservative. Many are go along Repubs, through and through.

I think even McMain could beat Barry in 2012. Palin could build a broad conservative base in the rebub party that would last even longer, and have way more effect than Newt's class of 1994.

Hey, if we fire him, would that make the “titular head of the Republican party”, Rush Limbaugh, the new chair?

The basic problem with the Republican party is that is wants to be liked, loved and respected by people who will NEVER like it, love it or respect it. This weakens the GOP and makes it unclear in its own vision of itself and its goals.

Your enemies hate you and want to destroy you. They might use slick marketing and smooth words, but the truth is still the same. Your enemies do not love you and they want to destroy you. Republicans, in general, seem unable to grasp this basic fact of life within the political world. Those men and women across the aisle are NOT your ‘good friends’. If they are, you’re doing it wrong. The GOP is doing it wrong.

Also, the RNC chairman job would be like a cage for Palin. Not the freedom she has now. Make money for herself and for her PAC and campaign for ppl whenever she want. Being RNC chairman instead of SarahPAC chairman is like moving downwards

That’s what gets me. I know Michael Steele has it in him but he is behaving like a scared rabbit. I understand going into his position after the horrible election wasn’t the best environment but he just manages to get his foot out of his mouth and he puts it back in. I know that he isn’t the primary problem. He just has become the face of the problem. The problem I believe resides in those behind the scenes. I think they thought after Obama was elected that they could force the party to the left to win. It was stupid and RNC is now running after the train seeking relevance. Steele if he wants to keep his job needs to do more outreach. He needs to use all of the resources, Palin, Romney, Huckabee, Thompson, talk radio, etc. What he needs to do is find a clarity in a message of liberty and built on the traditions that built this country and made it a super power. He needs to also shed that suit a bit and loosen up and find his soul again because if he doesn’t he can’t be an effective leader.

I’m still shaking my head over what he said on the Sean Hannity show several nights ago (which has made the Drudge Report) about how he didn’t think the House could go Republican this year and that we couldn’t handle it if it did.

He mouthed all the right words about conservative principle, etc. and quoted from the book but this just seems so rote and ritual; so lame and far behind the curve. Striving to catch up to recent events and get out in front of the Tea Party/Townhaller parade. Just words.

What did it for me was the “Tea Party” he held with his Ken and Barbie staffers a few weeks back. He has NEVER shown up at any real Tea Party event or held any townhalls of his own. He is an absolute joke.

And just think, we could have had Ken Blackwell, a real black conservative.

A party chairman is supposed to be building up the organization so elections can be won, not flapping his gums all the time.

Yes!!! As much as I loathe the marxists we need to organize like they do. They had a policy during the Bush years (after Fla in 2000) of getting their people in as state secretary of states. That's why Al Frankinstein was able to steal the MN election despite being down in the initial election. In the recount, magically all these absentee ballots appeared, and surprise surprise, they were all for Frankin. They know how to get into key positions. Now they can ram bills through and not care what the people think.

To: Maelstorm; All

A big part of the reason why the RNC doesn’t have much money is he has spent a great portion of it on consultants and junk.

I supported him previously, but I am getting mad.

Firing doesn’t sound bad.

Fire with extreme prejudice. Get a real conservative in there, not a toadying, inept RINO flack.

His jump-the-shark moment for me was on Morning Joe on Tuesday when he said he did not necessarily think the pubbies could take back the house in November. UnbeLIEVable.

If you care about the party, you'll resign now.
