Two Massachusetts Indian tribes have objected to the Cape Wind project, saying it would block their unimpeded view of the sunrise.
In a new setback for a controversial wind farm proposed off Cape Cod, the National Park Service announced Monday that Nantucket Sound was eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, guaranteeing further delays for the project.
Known as Cape Wind, the project is the nations first planned offshore wind farm and would cover 24 square miles in the sound, an area roughly the size of Manhattan. The park service decision came in response to a request from two Massachusetts Indian tribes, who said the 130 proposed wind turbines would thwart their spiritual ritual of greeting the sunrise, which requires unobstructed views across the sound, and disturb ancestral burial grounds.

NIMBYISM at it's finest. I bet some well-heeled 'natives' had a little pow-wow with the Wampanoags of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard.

I finally get it. Going “Green” is okay so long as it isn’t in an area frequented by leftist Democrats?
Feinstein blocks it, Kennedy’s blocked it, Animal rights groups blocked it and now, Indians too?

That’s it!
Don’t tell me that the Amerinds really believe that their view of the sunset is more important than the millions they are making from their gambling casinos!
I’m totally fed up with all of the pandering to the special interest groups that include the numerous enviro groups, racial groups, animal rights groups, etc. They don’t give a damn about the future of the PEOPLE of this country; just their own little niches of special interest. ....Their actions do nothing to garner my support, but instead turn me against them.
ditto
I have an answer to these Indian tribes. Get on your horses and ride out to the sunrise. Do it every day there is a sunrise. Anything to get you to move around a little. Otherwise you will sit around and stagnate. Stagnation will only keep you ignorant and superstitious. I repeat: ignorant and superstitious.
Looking over the lyrics of Old Cape Cod I see no mention of windmills so they cannot be installed. :)
Old Cape Cod
(Claire Rothrock, Milt Yakus and Allan Jeffrey)
If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air
Quaint little villages here and there
(You’re sure)
You’re sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
(Cape Cod, that old Cape Cod)
If you like the taste of a lobster stew
Served by a window with an ocean view
(You’re sure)
You’re sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
Winding roads that seem to beckon you
Miles of green beneath a sky of blue
Church bells chimin’ on a Sunday morn
Remind you of the town where you were born
If you spend an evening you’ll want to stay
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay
You’re sure to fall in love with old Cape Cod
(Aah, aah)
If you spend an evening you’ll want to stay
(On Cape Cod Bay)
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay
You’re sure to fall in love
With old Cape Cod
You’re sure to fall in love
You’re sure to fall in love
With old Cape Cod
Time for a cost analysis...How much spurious electricity would this generate, and would a nuke plant taking up less space generate more consistantly at less or the same of OPM (other peoples money) to build it?
