Persistent cold tightens grip on nation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The freeze that lingered over much of the nation Wednesday was expected to be followed by strong winds and more bitter cold through the Midwest and deep into the South.

The unusually persistent Southern cold snap has been blamed for at least six deaths and threatened to freeze Florida citrus crops.

The cold was expected to continue through the weekend. The National Weather Service predicted the heaviest snow from the fast-moving system would fall on Iowa, Missouri and Illinois, with 4-6 inches predicted along with some locally heavier amounts through Thursday.

In a rare turn for the South, forecasters warned that snow and ice were possible Thursday from South Carolina to Louisiana and wind chills in the region could get down to near zero at night.

I don't know about you in SoCal, but here in NorthCal, we're socked in with fog with a high of 48 today and haven't seen the sun for two weeks. Nothing like Fla and the East Coast, but very cold for us this time of year.

I’ve heard that in just a few short months the polar ice caps will melt and large portions of coastline will boil like a McDonalds french fry hopper, so this horrible weather should be over soon.

The rest of us are moving on without "SoCal".

“If we didn’t have global warming, we’d be in an ice age.”—recent paper in a leading peer-reviewed scientific journal.

An ice age, of course, would mean the end of civilization. So would “cap-and-trade”!!!!

I don’t know whether the above paper is right or wrong. In any case, climate scientists need to fix their models, and stop providing propaganda for the obamaites and the Goreons!!

It's unlikely that even a long unusually cold winter will cool off the global warming BS from the envirowackos. More likely they'll actually blame extreme cold weather on "climate change caused by CO2," because the global warming religion is based on the idea that CO2 is this magic molecule that can cause extreme weather all around the globe. So in his religion, CO2 causes BOTH global warming and extreme cold snaps. (In other words, they think CO2 causes global warming and global cooling simultaneously....it's like when Kerry voted for the bill and against the bill at about the same time.)

Nothing will convince these people that CO2 has no significant effect on global temperatures, except ultimately the weight of evidence will accumulate in the next 30 years and GW theory will be quietly discarded by environmental extremists and their political allies, and probably replaced by a more flexible "religious doctrine" that CO2 somehow magically causes climate change and "wild weather" all over the globe. We're dealing with religious fanatics and drugged-out 60s hippie scientists here, not rational people. But ultimately temperatures can't be faked and demagouged and the truth will prevail on this issue.
