Suspects in Utah deputy's slaying captured in Beaver County

Both suspects sought in the slaying of a Millard County sheriff's deputy were captured Wednesday morning in Beaver County.

Beaver County Sheriff Cameron Noel confirmed that Roberto Miramontes Roman, the alleged killer of Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox, and a "person of interest," Ruben Chavez Reyes, were taken into custody without incident about 8:15 a.m.

"We got a tip and found them asleep in a shed. Deputies and SWAT officers went in and removed them," Noel said.

He said Millard County authorities were on the way to take the men into custody. Millard County sheriff's officials confirmed the capture, but were still gathering information as of 9 a.m. before issuing a statement.

Fox, a 37-year-old mother of two, was gunned down about 1 a.m. Tuesday about one mile east of Delta, shortly after she pulled over a 1995 gray Cadillac Deville driven by Roman. Sheriff's investigators say Roman, possibly armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, opened fire on Fox, killing her with a bullet that entered her chest just above her protective vest.

Looks like illegals based on the article. The part I don’t get is it looks like the brother of the murdered deputy was dealing drugs with the suspect(s)? It is confusing. My step-son is police officer in Utah, which is how I even heard about this event.

Josie Fox is survived by her husband and two children. Her husband was out of town on business and was on his way back to Utah by Tuesday morning.

"It's a sad day for for us here in Millard County," said Dekker. "We've lost a loved one; a close friend. It's a deep loss. She was a peach."

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Roberto Miramontes Roman. Dekker says Roman has been convicted on drug charges before. A search of state court records revealed that Roman had been arrested for theft charges in which police say he received stolen weapons as well.

Dekker also said Roman is a Mexican national who was in the country illegally. Dekker also said Roman had been deported once before, but had returned to Utah.

Police also released the name of 36-year-old Ruben Chavez Reyes as a second person of interest in the shooting on Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its deep concern for the death on January 4th of Mexican citizen Jorge Alfredo Solís Palma after being shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent near Douglas, Arizona about a kilometer from the border.

The Cochise sheriff, the FBI and the Border Patrol are currently investigating the event and the Foreign Ministry is awaiting the results in order to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

The Mexican consulate in Douglas is in communication with all of the local authorities involved in the incident and is following events closely. It has also begun to locate the family members of Mr. Solís Palma in order to provide them with the necessary assistance, including the repatriation of the remains to Mexico.

Mexico: Man allegedly tried to sell woman, 4 kids

MEXICO CITY:A Mexican man has been detained for allegedly plotting to sell a young woman, two girls and two boys for $2,000 apiece in the United States, police said Sunday.

Police in the northern state of Sonora said the 19-year-old woman and girls aged 12 and 15 were kidnapped by the suspect and another man. The woman and the girls were freed after being held since June 22 at a house in the town of Cananea, near the Arizona border, police said.

The suspect confessed that he planned sell them to a contact in the United States to work as prostitutes, the police statement said. He also allegedly wanted to sell his two stepsons, ages 1 and 4, it added.

The man has not been formally charged. He is being held on suspicion of human trafficking, a charge that carries a maximum punishment of 23 years in prison.

It is not at all difficult to read between the lines on many of these posts, as it is not too hard to spot the phony indignation and outrage of many of those posting.
Murder is a savage act, whether the murderer is a legal citizen, or not. There is a preponderance of threads on this site which focus exclusively on those murders, or crimes, committed by Mexicans here illegally. Are they the only ones committing crimes in this nation?

No, they are not the only ones. They just happen to be invading our country in the highest number. Sure, Americans commit crimes, but to my knowledge we can't deport them. IDAHO FALLS - A six-month old baby is dead and a man is sitting in jail accused of shaking her to death.

Mauricio Cando-Franco is in this country illegally. Now he is facing additional murder charges for allegedly shaking six-month old Ziola cook to death.

“It’s hard to see your baby like that not being able to move. Praying that they would take a breath. It’s the worst thing you could ever do,” says Michelle Cook, baby’s mother.

Michelle spent the last two days watching her six-month-old baby girl, lifeless, hooked to machines, realizing the worst has happened.

“I got to hold her while they unplugged the breathing machine,” she says.

Ziola was rushed to EIRMC Saturday after her grandmother stopped in to find her unresponsive and limp. Ziola’s injuries were so severe she was air-lifted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

“I asked her, ‘What’s wrong with my grandbaby?’ and she said, ‘I don’t know.’ I said, “Something’s wrong with her, what’s wrong with her?’ she said, ‘I don’t know,” says Cola Hudson, the baby’s grandmother.

Ziola took her last breath at 11p.m. Sunday night, but doctors say she had already past before she ever arrived in Salt Lake City, telling Michelle her baby was shaken to death.

24-year-old Mauricio Cando-Franco is Michelle’s former boyfriend, and main suspect. He was home alone with the baby while Michelle was at work, telling police he didn’t hurt the baby.

But police have determined all signs point toward Mauricio as the killer.

“After everything I’ve been through, I feel no regrets to him, where he’s at. I hope he gets what he deserves. That he has to live with the fact that he killed an innocent child,” says Michelle.

A mother’s anguish as she grieves the loss of a child.

“She had asked me where her sister Ziola was, I don’t know how I’m going to tell her,” she says.

Mauricio Cando-Franco is being charged with felony injury to a child and murder in the first degree. His bail is set at $250,000.
