I hope someone digs into that.

If the RNC decides to grow a set (LOL!!!Yeah! Right!) they could do the digging, with the help of some really strategically-placed operatives. Play the Dems game if the pubs wanna win.
Alas, they're too candy-assed to do much of anything.

And since my curiosity bump is itching big time this morning, how many House seats is MA fixing to lose after the next census? Anyone making any predictions?

With the mood as angry as it is, all bets are off. Who would have ever thought that Corzine would have gone down in ultra-lib NJ? Yet, he did,.

Lieberman has shown that there are enough independents in CT to sway the vote. If those indies are ticked off enough, this may go GOP.

The mood is extremely anti-incumbent. A sitting AG is close enough to being an incumbent that it’s a disadvantage. If the GOP can run a real outsider, that will be a big plus.

Some still wonder if Dodd actually made any payments on the sweetheart Countrywide mortgage and believe the issue was raised to prove the deal was ok even though with no payments, it was a gift and a bribe

I am kind of wondering if the Dems are doing this strategically and paying these guys when they leave office $$$?

Yeah - this is a double-edge sword. The ones retiring can vote without having to even pretend about what the voters want and the fresh faces may soften the anti-incumbent wave in November.

Peter Schiff is running for Senator. He is a well established economist who has been the subject of a few heated debate threads on this forum.

Should be toast. Unfortunately the Pubbie options aren’t too compelling:

Simmons, the former Rep, is pretty tepid but supposedly the frontrunner.

McMahon, the wrestling promoter, has big bucks that she is spending freely, but she’s been a Democrat donor and may not be much of a Republican at all.

Schiff, who is the natural FR favorite, explained in a recent video how he’s running part-time in his free time because he has a job to hold down at his own money-management firm. Perhaps he’d taper off his day job if he won the primary? The seat? Either way, his polling seems to reflect his commitment.

Now don't say that :)

I live in Upstate NY. We're fixing to lose at least one. My bet's on two. It looks like a ghost town in these parts. But while the population's declining, the taxes ain't. Sigh. Well, here's hoping MA and CT are fed up.

oh it is possible that the GOP could pick this up but i dont think it is likely. this Blumenthal guy i guess is almost as popular as their Governor Jodi Rell so if i were rating the race i would say Leans Dem though as you say the mood could be so poisonous to anyone with a D next to their name is toast. time will tell

This was predicatble. The Dems weren’t going to let this seat go Red. Is Blumenthal going to wait until Dodd does his “Crying News Conference” before his announcement?

Odds are against the GOP picking this seat up. But Dorgan’s seat, on the other hand, should be relatively easy to win.

“Now don’t say that :)”

Honestly, of the 10 US Reps, there is only 1 (Steve Lynch) that I might piss on if he was on fire. The rest are just...inane.

That’s the problem, people leave, the taxes don’t. And the more hacks and hacks and relatives of hacks that are “employed” need to be supported. Especially after they put in their years, retire and relocated to another state, like FL or AZ.

Still voting with their feet.

That a lot of numbers to gin up.

I have lived in Connecticut all my life, so I have a feel for the territory.

Blumenthal will win. Why??

Cause there are people in this state who worship him like he was a god. If you had a consumer complaint, he would personally take calls and handle the problem. People really liked that. It made him a legend. That’s why he’s been the AG of CT for so long.

Dodd would have been a piece of cake to beat, but bit Blumenthal.

If I were Peter Schiff...upon hearing the news today...I would appoint an acolyte to manage (day to day) EuroPac. He can still be updated and give advice in the evening.

And I’d put my foot on the gas and GO. He is the one candidate that has the proper background for the time we’re in..right now.

People are nervous about the economy, the currency, their pensions, etc. He has a chance to be the man of the hour.

Let’s see if he’s got any stones.
