Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (Conn.), a leading Democrat whose political star fell along with the nation's economy, is expected to announce Wednesday that he has decided against running for reelection this November, according to sources briefed on the decision. Dodd, in his fifth term, chairs the Senate Banking Committee. His retirement would be the second such announcement by a Senate Democrat in 24 hours; North Dakota's Byron Dorgan said Tuesday that he would not run this fall.

I’m thinking someone has more incriminating manure on him. If revealed, he’ll fall like the turd he is.

To resign, he can save face and become a lobbyist.

#31 money statement...

If the Pubs are smart they will run against Obiecare, Crap&Trade, Dingy Harry and Stretch Pelosi.

Has Blumenthal taken a public position on these issues? Seems like state AGs are now lining up to challenge Obiecare.

I don’t know about Blumenthal, but you’re right that several AG’s are in concert against Nebraska’s special deal.

LOL. Shall we start a pool for Reid’s retirement announcement?

It’s not based on anything other than not wanting to be there after they lose power. They know that they will lose.

What a wonderful way to go off to bed to dream of sugar plum fairies who dance in my head.

He is either under investigation, about to be indicted, or not man enough to fight fair (I know, not in the dems playbook) and lose.

A coward always runs from an honest fight.

Last thought:

I have to wonder if they have been “convinced” (maybe the Chicago Way) to step down so a more viable candidate can run against the GOP.

Very bad for us. We can’t win this seat (or at least, it becomes far harder) against a new, untainted Democrat nominee. We need Dodd to run.

good point. any other Republican in AK other than Stevens would have won and there wouldn’t be 60 votes.

Although, Stevens really got shafted as it turned out his whole trial was a sham. Of course they won’t redo the election or anything.

Too bad...I was looking forward to seeing him get trounced. Wonder what ambassadorship B.O. has in store for him.

Exactly, LostInBayport.

This is a surprise to me, if true... methinks there's something sinister in the works here...

Dodd would do well in Tehran. Great spot for Pelosi as well. They’ll feel right at home among their allies.
