One of the most consistent refrains heard within the Tea Party movement is that it should remain independent, that it should not allow itself to be co-opted. The entity against which this warning is sounded, the one that the Tea Partiers fear will subvert the purity and autonomy of their movement, is the Republican Party. Certainly, this fear is understandable. Having seen the Republican "leadership" in action over the past decade, I and many other conservatives are less than confident in the ability or even the desire of the GOP leadership caste to represent and advance conservative principles. Even though it has been recently revealed that current RNC chairman Michael Steele, in his new book, recognizes the fact that the GOP strayed from its core principles after Reagan left office (even singling out the two Bushes who served presidential terms), this admission appears to be a day late and a dollar short, especially given Mr. Steele's own complicity in this drift from principle. Yes, in this sense, the Tea Parties have a point who wants Mike Steele, John McCain, or Lindsey Graham trying to horn in on their popularity and ruin their image?
However, this is not the hijacking that I want to warn against today....

The GOP should NOT be allowed to subvert the Tea Party.
The TEA PARTY should infiltrate and subvert the GOP.
This is a monumentally poor idea, one which is practically guaranteed to allow liberal Democrats to stay in power so that they can continue to advance their radical agenda.
Yep.
Glad the author brought this up, I've been warning about Kennedy for a while. He is correct except, Kennedy is far worse than Brown. Kennedy is a life long Democrat, pro-choice, code pinko, who agrees with the Dems on most of the issues but is playing the 'tea party' candidate game by claiming he just doesn't want the federal government to pay for it. IMHO, he is a dem trying to split the Conservative vote.
The tea partiers are largely GOP. Conservatives...
Spot on!!!
look no further than the Kennedy who is running in Mass.’ special Senate election for a prime example.
Liberals are in the business of stealing everything drom us....do NOT let them get their filthy hands on this...
Largely, yes. But many, many independents, also. That’s what is putting the fear of God into the Dems.
“Orlando attorney” typical ASSHOLE Lawyer.
GOP “leadership” is one of the prime reasons the tea parties started!
Long article just to get to the point.

Exactly. They are trying to neuter the meaning of Tea Party, split the vote and render the work done thus far, meaningless.
This writer who is a chemist by trade should stick to making glue. He doesn’t have a clue.
We have have tried the RINO way since Reagan and look where it’s gotten us.
I’ll hitch my wagon to the conservative Tea Party Movement.
And fear not, The Tea Party Movement will pick up a lot of Reagan Democrats and independents along the way.
Ping!
How many infiltrations and subvertings is the GOP supposed to undergo at one time?
We have evangelicals, Ron Paulies, RINO’s, and now Tea Partiers too? All wanting to subvert the GOP?
The GOP has to change, that’s for sure, but are we ready to rip it apart by all those who desire to “subvert it?”
I agree, the GOP should not take over the Tea Party, but I can see it working together, provided the GOP gets the message to wake up.
It is a power vacuum. When we have weak leadership, a lot of interests want to step in and take it their way.
I agree - and I’m an officer in the local GOP. Parties are good for running candidates and other things that group affiliation brings. Beyond that is the citizen domain and Tea Party/912 groups work in that arena better.
We must also not let the Dems infiltrate and direct the Tea Party movement. I suspect this is part of what is happening, too.
>>GOP leadership is one of the prime reasons the tea parties started!
I agree. If the GOP leadership had been doing it’s job, it would have been hosting anti-Progressive rallies from Day One of Nancy Pelosi’s “Most ethical Congress ever!”.
Scratch that...if the GOP leadership had been doing it’s job, Pelosi would just be another leftist moonbat congressman in the minority party.
So, tea parties are proof of the absence of GOP leadership!
