A Month in the life of George W. Bush ( News and photos) January 2010

As a new year commences I am sure we all miss the steadying hand of George W Bush who in the wake of terrorism or natural disaster gave us a feeling of calm amid the storm, of someone in control yet a man of compassion. This was shown during late 2004 early 2005 when an earthquake and violent tsunamis struck the nations that surround the Indian Ocean.

I have in fact chosen his radio message from January 2005 as the quote of the month for the first monthly dose of 2010.

A man of conviction and compassion, not all did and do agree with what he did but most will agree what he did he did from the belief that it was the right decision and done for the love of his country and its people and not for personal gain or popularity.

I feel the stark contrast with the current occupant of the White House more so each day when I turn the TV on to see what publicity stunt the current President is involved in. Even his decision to send more troops to Afghanistan he felt necessary to qualify with a promise of reducing numbers within so many months, again reminding us of the difference in character between the current and the previous President.

I hope the following photos from January 2005 give you some happy memories of a time when things however bad seemed more manageable and achievable because the President was in control and defending America and all she stands for instead of apologising.

Happy New Year to all and God Bless America and George W Bush and what he meant to us all during 8 very special years.

I posted a poll last night in my blog. I asked “Do you miss President Bush?” 92% said YES! [352 votes]. =)
We are not alone. So many people miss W!

After last night’s frown-inducing SOTU (which I refused to watch), I thought we could all use another smile:

BUSH MEETING
[an amateurish yet sweet video of a family’s visit with President Bush at his Dallas office . . . Have I mentioned lately just how much I love this man — he’s just so GENUINELY warm and caring!]

Oh, MY!! I LOVE that video, DrDeb!

Our sweet, sweet President..........a real man interacting with people in love.

Oh, how I miss him!!

(And I didn't watch that creepy little usurper last night either. I can't stand to hear him one minute let alone over an hour. Ugh.)

Totally agree.

Obama needs to move to the center to win. Last night he said “I don’t quit.” He’s gonna keep on pushing communism down our throats.
In 2013, we’ll have a new President, and he or she will be a Republican. [And I’m going to the Inauguration. LOL]

This year, victories will be huge for Republicans [Obama is going to say Republicans won because of Bush. After some analysis, I think he’s right. People miss him...]

Thank you for answering the poll! =)

What a very nice video of a wonderful President who continues to display his servant’s heart while being out of office....but not out or our hearts!

Thanks for the ping.

Wonderful, Deb! That was one of the
families of our precious fallen. It’s
incredible that he wants their stories
included in his library. He looks so
great.

And now for a delicious glance backward ..
look what I found:

Journeys With George - pre-2000 election
videos done by Democrat reporter, Alexandra
Pelosi, about this incredible chapter and
his interactions with the cynical press.

If they only knew what a horrible chapter
would enfold at the end of this election.

NOTE: some foul language (from the reporters)

Oh .. how great to see him from that time. He’s
such a card and joker .. and comical, even tempered,
normal and transparent! How I miss him and the
blessing of a normal, good hearted American!

DrDeb! What a video! So sweet! Thank you for finding it. I am so grateful that this family posted the video for us to enjoy.

Genuine is a perfect word to describe President Bush. I love him as well---and miss him so very much.

Thank you!

I caught that too, i.e., that this was the family of a fallen soldier (and that President Bush wanted to include their story in his library) . . . And he does look great doesn’t he?!

I really enjoyed “Journeys With George”! Despite Alexandra Pelosi’s best efforts (and the efforts of some of the elitist reporters), candidate Bush comes across as the smart, genuine, fun-loving soul that he is — a man that Alexandra ends up liking inspite of her preconceptions!

In fact, I liked it so much that I bought the dvd a couple of years ago:

For your Sunday reading pleasure:

BUSH’S FULL PLATE
By Karen Hughes
Published: January 30, 2010

THEY served pineapple upside-down cake for dessert that snowy evening at Camp David, the last weekend of President George W. Bush’s first year in office. I remember thinking it seemed fitting. “What a year,” President Bush said during dinner. “Sometimes it seems like seven,” replied Condoleezza Rice, his national security advisor. But no one else said much. The emotions had been too raw, too intense.
