As gross as the whole subject is, this is probably necessary, because what is worse than a junkie, is a junkie that injects themselves wrong. Yich. Feh.

Of course if they do it very wrong, they are a dead junkie. But they will probably reuse needles, spreading hepatitis C around like a cold, which will invariably spread to non-junkies.

If the needle is dirty, they might give themselves diseases that shouldn’t be wished on anyone, like tetanus and gangrene. You can tell gangrene because of its “distinctive” odor, which can be smelled in a hospital five floors away from where the gangrene patient is located. You only need to smell it once to remember it for the rest of your life.
