Take this Bono. Copyright laws ought to be treated like patents. You get a set time to make your millions, and after that they cease protection. Copyright protection is so skewed now they gets used to protect the work of composers who died 100 years ago.
Its the age of the internet Bono — all music should enter the public domain at some point.

Many times I've downloaded a song onto my computer only to go out and buy the entire CD because I wanted to play the music in my car or at work.
My point being is that sometimes downloading leads to MORE sales for the artist(s).
Bono just another One-World Liberal Globalist who believes that he is above everyone else...and laws should apply only to the lesser people. His support of Communist China “regulating the internet” should scare everyone.
As for young and new artists....a lot of them are breaking out now because of file sharing and downloading....its only geezers like Bono who must still subscribe to old, failed methods of media distribution.
He must be a Christian--according to the article linked in post 15 above he has his own personal priest.

The irony of this is that the music industry never learns. It would rather wither and die than share any money with anyone else, for stuff most every other business regards as good for business.
Especially advertising. The music industry hates advertising, because their giving money to advertisers isn’t “fair”. They believe even advertisers should pay *them*, the music industry, for the privilege to advertise *their*, the music industry’s, music.
This isn’t just being greedy. This is stupidly greedy. Clutching greedy. Daffy Duck greedy.
The best example is Music Television. The cable TV channel is now just called MTV, because it rarely if ever plays music videos any more. From 1980 to about 2000, it was the greatest music advertisement business ever created. It introduced America and other countries to hundreds of new artists, and caused explosive sales in the music industry.
If you poll people even today about their favorite music artists, the public remembers dozens of the MTV artists of the ‘80s and ‘90s. But after then, for the last decade, maybe only one or two.
So what happened? Simple. The music industry couldn’t stand that MTV was making money by showing music videos, and not paying the music industry millions of dollars, virtually everything MTV earned, to do so.
It didn’t matter that it made the music industry a fortune. They just couldn’t abide that *anyone* else also made money off of “their” music. They felt that it was like “stealing” from them.
And so we no longer have Music Television. It is no longer an influential cultural and artistic phenomenon. It no longer creates superstars and inspires a whole new generation of artists. Instead we have reverted to what existed before MTV.
And the music industry is even trying to destroy that. It is now trying to demand huge royalties even for radio stations to broadcast “their”, the music industry’s, music.
This isn’t just being greedy. This is stupidly greedy. Clutching greedy. Daffy Duck greedy.
On top of all this, there is file sharing. It is about the only way people are being introduced to new music today. This is because they can actually listen to it before they buy it.
Is it any wonder that the music industry hates it with a burning passion?
And in their arrogance and greed, they put a priority of outlawing sharing of music made by non-music industry artists. This is because, on top of everything else, the music industry wants a complete monopoly over *all* music. No music of any kind, for anyone, unless they give us, the music industry, money.
The sooner this industry dies, the better. Then maybe artists can make and sell music, and their audience, and potential audience, can enjoy it.

But now, for cruising around Europe, Boner goes alone, so can use a smaller jet, but heck, why cut back on those fuel guzzling engines. His new jet has FOUR ENGINES. That ought to open up that pesky ozone layer!

This beast burns plenty of jet fuel too!

At a cruising speed of 400 knots, that works out to more than a kilogram of fuel for each mile traveled.
By my calculation, this beast gets about 3 miles per gallon.
50-year-old Bono and his guitar player friend however, are different. They are allowed to enjoy teenage girls.
