A boy of 11 who has already been arrested more than 50 times has become one of his town's ten most prolific burglars.
The one-boy crimewave was given an electronic tag and confined to his children's home in a bid to control him - but when he broke his curfew nine days running, magistrates simply gave up and removed the tag.
Staff at the children's home have repeatedly proved unable to stop him coming and going as he pleases.
Now police in Croydon, South London, are simply waiting for the youngster to turn 12 in February, when it will finally become possible to detain him in secure accommodation.

Thanks to the left where disciplining your child is a crime we have hoodlums like this. Thank God I grew up in a time where when I acted stupid my dad stomped me and he didn’t have to worry about it.
This is the sort of kid who would be shipped off to Australia in previous centuries.
That or hard labor in a coal mine.
No - The military is NOT the place for criminals.
It is NOT a place to send juvenile delinquents/criminals/thieves to “straighten them out” because its mission is to “kill people and blow up things” ... when ordered.
The military can’t “fix” kids-criminals like this.
Nor can social workers. Here, you “breaK their self-imposed only-12-year-old-or-older can go to jail: it’s the social workers who put the kid, themselves, the police in this situation.
By the way, why is he free to walk the streets? Why not have a “social worker” or juvenile psychiatrist or “elementary school professor of education” or “criminal justice official” stay behind him, hand-cuffed to the jerk’s arm for six months.
The mission is to protect the public, not to let another 100 crimes get committed against other citizens.
Keep in mind he was arrested 50 times - meaning those are the times he was caught.

I know you must be right because you used out-of-place capital letters and excessive quotes.
The boy needs a father. A man who can show him what is right and what is wrong, who can set firm limits and enforce them, who can train him up to be a man and not a thug.
Nobody mentions “father.” Have we all forgotten what that word means? It is not not just a noun, it’s a verb, an action word, the “actions” being training, discipline, strength, imposing of standards, care, oversight, love, and force. A powerful verb, and indispensible one. Father this child.
Public canings are the only cure.
Short answer: Yes!
I much prefer the Innotek Rechargeable In-Ground Pet Fencing System.
That is so, so sad. To be so young, and so incompetent. I hope he finds something he’s better at.
You set him straight-Girl!
LOL!
It may be that his natural father is long gone, and shame on him.
But is there not a man anywhere in that decaying nation who understands what a boy is, and what a boy needs? A soldier, a cop, a shopkeeper, a sheep farmer for God’s sake, a man with sense of duty and honor, who has not lost the feeling of the muscles in his right arm? Is there not a man left in Britain?
Father this child.
Fatherless children are unfortunately often too broken by adolescence for anyone to help.
If there was anyone to help.
And now with homosexuals having free rein in organizations like Big Brother, such kids could be even more ruined.
The men you describe need to form new organizations to help kids. But seriously, Mrs. Don-o, I think the old order needs to sort of crumble before a natural order can arise.
The collapse of a decayed society is a thought which comes to me more often than I like. When I pray for my nation to repent, I wonder what it would take for a nation like the UK or the USA to repent. I wonder what it is I'm praying for.
Who or what would be a scourge on the backs of the morally collapsed Britons? No, you don't have to say it. We both know.
