Brie baked with raspberry jam on the inside
Shrimp rings
Summer sausage
Crackers and all kinds of cheeses
Smokies in BBQ sauce
Oranges
Cookies
Cream puffs
Chocolates
Chocolates filled with liqueur - my great-aunt made sure of that while she was alive ... I buy them every year in her memory
Punch cran-ras juice mixed with sprite ... raspberry cordial to “flavor” as needed on the side ... thanks grandpa for teaching me to make that
Napolean - my Russian grandmother's recipe ... in her memory ... she had the most amazing New Year's parties
Eggnog with whiskey or rum -different strokes for different folks
Sparkling cider for the kids
Champagne
Lots of confetti and pop-its an crackers

Eat until midnight ... start about 4pm. At midnight make all the noise in the world and drink champagne and cider while watching the Times Square replay. Fireworks if any are left over from the 4th. Then smash the gingerbread things we made for Christmas (this year is a Starship Enterprise, the Coliseum, a castle, and a house ... and the friends we invited over brought a train). Then put the food away and leave the mess for the morning. Spend a few football games picking up confetti on New Year's Day.

Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

Treasure Hunt
If you seek [wisdom] as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord. —Proverbs 2:4-5
On January 1, 2008, Keith Severin and his 7-year-old son, Adrien, agreed that they would spend at least 15 minutes every day that year searching together for treasure. Carlos Alcalá’s article in the Sacramento Bee described how they went out each day in every kind of weather to see what they could find. A year later their collection of coins, golf balls, recyclable bottles and cans, and various other items had yielded more than $1,000. In the process, they enjoyed many hours of companionship and fun.

If we decided to spend 15 minutes a day searching for treasure in the Bible, what would we find? Solomon wrote: “If you seek [wisdom] as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. . . . Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path” (Prov. 2:4-5,9).

Growth won’t happen all at once. But gradually, day by day, we will be changed through reading God’s Word and obeying Him. And think of the privilege and pleasure of spending time with our heavenly Father.

It begins with a willing commitment, continues with exciting discoveries, and leads to the treasure of wisdom and life.

Search the Scriptures’ precious store—
As a miner digs for ore;
Search, and you will surely find
Treasures to enrich the mind. —Anon.

Rich treasures of God’s truth are waiting to be discovered.

1. Eat blackeyed peas.
2. Sew a sack to hold all the money you will make this year.
3. DO NOT sweep the floor. You will sweep out all your good luck.

Most years I go to sleep regular time and wake up to a New Year. Yeehaw.

New Year’s Day, I PRAY, pray hard, for my loved ones, for the whole world, for Good to triumph over Evil, for those outside the fold of saving faith to be brought in to have their eyes opened to God’s Love, and to His WELCOME MAT that is at the door, just waiting for each one, each and every one of us: He Loves Us.

If I’m off work, I cook, what exactly I cook varies.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
