Turkey May Want Santa Bones Back

Top officials in Turkey say the country is considering requesting the return of St Nicholas's remains from Italy so they may be placed at a museum to be built at his birthplace.

St Nicholas, from whom the story of Santa Claus emerged, was born and served as a bishop of what is now the Turkish Mediterranean town of Demre, in the 4th century AD.

He was buried there, but his bones were later taken to the southern Italian town of Bari.

Turkish Culture Minister Ertugrul Gunay told the Anatolia news agency that Turkey was planning to build a museum in the region and was likely to request the bones once construction was complete.

Mr Gunay said his ministry had no timetable yet for the museum's construction.

I hope Italy tells Turkey to buzz off.

The bones do not belong in a museum, they belong in a church (like where they are now in Bari) or other consecrated christian place.

Hey Ertegrul: How about building a museum about your nation’s genocide against Armenians and other Christians?

As far as I know Italy will have no say in the matter since the Church has the relics.

As a Catholic I would be more than happy to support having some of the relices placed in Hagia Sophia. . . as soon as it is handed back to the Patriarch.

St. Nick was a Christian. Leave him in a somewhat Christian country. You folks just want to have them so you can desecrate them occasionally.

You can have the bones of any muzzlems we have. Then we can call it even.

Oh, and give back the Holy Land and Hagia Sophia.

It makes me cringe, those pictures of Hagia Sophia with the Muslim Arabic signs hanging all over the place. This is to be the fate of all the cathedrals and churches in Europe. All those wonderful sculptures and stained-glass images of Biblical characters and saints will be destroyed. Religion aside, we are talking about a cultural and artistic calamity.

No problem.

Just re-establish the Byzantine Empire in Anatolia and we’ll set the wheels in motion.

Until then, the muzzies can piss off.

Muslims want the bones of a Christian Saint?
What will they do with them?
Whatever it is, you can bet it will be something only muslims could dream up.
