The Oregon Air National Guard scrambled two F-15 fighter jets after a passenger on a Hawaiian Airlines jet to Maui refused to let go of his carry-on bag and passed what was described as a “disturbing note” to a flight attendant.

TSA puts extra layers of security in place following Christmas bombing attempt.
Hawaiian Flight 39 was about 40 minutes into its trip to Maui’s Kahului airport when, at 12:30 p.m. PST, the pilot reported a disturbance.
The two planes intercepted the flight at about 1 p.m. and then escorted it back to Portland, according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
The Boeing 767 headed back to the Portland airport, landing at 1:16 p.m. Law enforcement officers met the plane upon arrival and the passenger was removed. http://bit.ly/8VzR1c

Prayers for your wife, ExSoldier and for you as well.

Prayers for you and your daughter, RR.
Indian mujahideen planning 9/11 type attack
A 9/11-type terror attack using hijacked aeroplanes stares India in the face with an Indian Mujahideen terrorist having acquired pilot training and waiting to strike, according to intelligence agencies.
Intelligence Bureau (IB) sources say Shahzad Ahmed alias Pappu, one of the key accused in the September 2008 Delhi blasts case, learnt to fly planes in Bangalore and could now be planning to execute an airborne terror strike. A dozen other trained Indian Mujahideen terrorists are also at large and, together with Shahzad, pose a big security threat.
Snip: .....the enemy is not just getting closer: hes inside the gates. And the reason is because current U.S. national security policy is simply not adequate to the Islamic jihad challenge thats coming at us.
US a house divided on terrorism
Snip: There's also a caution that engaging al-Qaida as though you're fighting a life-size game of "Risk" on a big map of the world against a single, mobile villain could inspire under-governed, lawless countries to see an al-Qaida franchise as the key to a new kind of fear-based security development.
Rogue Imam Anwar Al Awlaki's DVDs for sale in London - in America too?
Snip: Here is the text of Awlaki's speech "Constants on the Path of Jihad." http://theforceofreason.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Constants-on-the-Path-of-Jihad.pdf
It is readily available all over the Internet and there is even a video of it on Google. Why don't Google and the Feds get this jihadi hate rhetoric off the Internet?
The speeches of Awlaki available for sale online at places such as http://www.onlineislamicstore.com/audio-speeches-and-discourses-by-imam-anwar-al-awlaki.html. It seems obvious that al Qaeda has an enormous presence online and they are recruiting via the use of Awlaki's speeches.
UN suspends food aid to southern Somalia
The UNs World Food Programme (WFP) pulled out of southern Somalia on Tuesday, citing repeated threats and raids by commanders of Al Shabab, the Al Qadea-linked Islamist militant group.
Update to yours. Wth????
Federal authorities say a disruptive passenger has been released without charges after military jets escorted a jetliner back to Portland. The FBI says there is no known link to terrorists.

Best wishes and prayers for you and your wife ExSoldier.
Those pesky notes will get you in trouble every time - now I see the party in question has been released.
I think he should have to, at the very least, pay for the NG scramble.
Yes but what’s a mixed metaphor here and there among friends :)
CAIRO (AP) Egypt security and hospital officials: Drive-by shooting kills 6 leaving Coptic Christmas Mass.
Snip: Counter-terrorism authorities are said to be hunting for a 16-year-old boy from northern Yemen suspected of having been recruited by Al Qaeda to be a homicide bomber at one of five foreign targets in the southern port city of Aden, according to Western sources close to Yemeni security officials.
US intelligence accused of cluelessness
Snips: Written in a tone nearing exasperation, the report quotes a US officer as saying: "I don't want to say we're clueless, but we are. We're no more than fingernail-deep in our understanding of the environment."
The report said intelligence officials and analysts were "ignorant of local economics and landowners, hazy about who the powerbrokers are and how they might be influenced, incurious about the correlations between various development projects and disengaged from people in the best position to find answers".
He reserved greatest bile for officers who rely on sophisticated software to hide a lack of understanding of Afghanistan's elusive realities. "Sufficient knowledge will not come from slides with little more text than a comic strip," Maj Gen Flynn wrote. "Commanders who think PowerPoint storyboards and colour-coded spreadsheets are adequate for describing the Afghan conflict and its complexities have some soul searching to do."
Facing grim choices in the war on terror
Snips: .......millions of Americans are only one tragedy away from losing all restraint. Regular, everyday Americans simply won't stand quietly by for any more smoldering wrecks followed by gleeful video messages from bearded, cackling, wide-eyed madmen.
Before that happens, we need to step back and think about whether we want to prevent it. We can, but not by continuing to pretend that we're the study hall monitor of the world. What's better? Aggressive profiling at airports like the Israelis have successfully used for years, or sending in the cruise missiles to indiscriminately wipe out entire villages? What makes more moral sense? Indefinite detention and forceful, no-holds-barred interrogation of captured terrorists, or setting fire to the skies over the cities where the terrorists were born?
These are grim choices, but the crazy little al-Qaida terrorist in Detroit proved that the only choices we have left are all grim.
Thanks, Vel.
Candor7!!!! As much as we've been through together, please don't tell me you don't know I'M A GIRL person.
HAR!!!
LOL! I knew you were a “GIRL person”.
That said, sometimes it’s hard to tell from postings and not viewings.
For those of us who have had flight delays, some of us sitting on the tarmac for an hour or more before given flight clearance, I commiserate with those aboard who, ontime or not, will have to run like the wind to catch the next link of their flight.
