Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- A suicide bomber struck a forward operating base in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, causing an unknown number of American casualties, a U.S. military official said.

Breaking News: 8 Americans Killed In Afghanistan
A suicide bomb attack on a military base in Afghanistan killed eight Americans Wednesday, a U.S. official told CBS News correspondent David Martin.
All the victims were civilians, a spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan told CBS News.
The attack occurred at a forward operating military base in Khost province.
According to a CNN, the suicide bomber wore an explosive vest, though reports conflicted over whether the attacker struck the dining room or gym.

Yesterday an Afghan soldier turned his weapon on the US and other soldiers with him - I believe it was on a base. He killed one American and (I think) two Europeans. I haven’t seen any further report on it, though.

They would not be hitting military bases AGAIN had Fort Hood been called what it was from the start.....

Requesting prayers for my nephew and his crew at FOB Salerno in Khost. We’re waiting anxiously for more information on location and casualties. He is due out next week.

In all seriousness, I know personally 2 civilian contractors there..I’ve already sent e-mail requesting they tell me they’re ok..
