Alaska Superior Court Judge Kari Kristiansen of Palmer ruled on Dec. 23 that Bristol Palin hadn't provided any evidence that Tripp would be harmed by the anticipated publicity. She ordered all the sealed records opened.
In addition, Sharon Gleason, presiding judge for the judicial district, ruled against Bristol Palin's request to use pseudonyms.
Then.....in a following paragraph....
Palin writes that that debate was not the last time that motherhood was a topic. She then describes another debate that occured later in the campaign. It is the section about this other debate that you quoted. It is the section about this other debate wherein she misrepresents what she said (as I wrote earlier - her real answer was better) and misrepresents that the moderator did not ask her opponents the same question. He did.
Why are you having trouble with the truth? It is what it is and adults deal with reality.

It is better, imo, that all the lies, weaknesses, scandals, etc., be exposed as early as possible. Not just for Palin but for any potential nominee. Get everything out in the open. If it can be dealt with then do it now. If it's a deal killer then get off the stage.
I do see what you are looking at. I was incorrect in stating that she was in the debate with Murkowski. I understand your point and will look into it further.
However, it does make you look small when in the midst of a civil debate you, instead of reasonably pointing out that mistake, fall to...

Really Sir, I prefer a good hearty debate and will gladly drop out when one begins to insult rather than continue. I am an adult, I do not have a problem with the truth and do deal with reality.

A presidential candidate duking it out with stupid kid. How presidential.
This isn’t a criticism, it’s an observation. There is no way this ball bounces into Palin’s hands. She will spend the next year or more having to respond to every accusation this kid makes, true or untrue.
On another thread I said Palin should have paid this kid off long ago and shut him up. Of course, I was roundly criticized and attacked by the Palinistas. Hers and their inabiity to recognize political realities and act accordingly doom them and her.

Custody and child support hearings are focused on income, the ability of the parties to care for the child, the best interests of the child, and the child's extended families. Will Levi really want to go there, what with his drug-addict felon mother, serving the remainder of her prison sentence under house arrest?
I will be interested to learn about his source(s) of income, and his plans for future employment.
Admittedly, the entire proceeding is most unfortunate for the Palin family and for Sarah Palin, in particular since she is the public figure. It goes without saying that this is attention she did not need.
I'm in total disagreement with you about paying him off long ago. That would have been a colossal mistake, and likely her doomsday mistake. The guy is not trustworthy. He would have taken the money, demanded more, and still told the press she tried to buy him off. He's a sleaze, a sociopath if you will.
Levi, aka Rock Hollywood, will be a drag on the Palin family until he drinks or drugs himself to an early death.
I honestly don't know how it'll all play out on the national stage. I wish I knew, but I don't. There's goodness in people and in most families, there's a Levi, so all I can do is hope and pray for the best.

You are apparently a well respected poster here at FR over many years and I’m told that by a number of very long serving FR hands I have enjoyed communicating with over the last 12 monmths. Some believe that you are just playing devil’s advocate concerning Gov Palin but as time goes by I’m not so sure about that. Sadly you seem hell bent on damaging your past FR achievements thread by thread - or is that perish by a thousand silly posts? Don’t do it you’re better than that.
I don’t agree with your take on Gov Palin, the Johnson sideshow, or her future prospects but its OK to disagree at FR. I can’t predict the future and neither can you.
Pile on if you must. Bob J and I have disagreed more times over the years that I can remember, but I am gonna have to back him on this. It is a shame her daughter had underage sex, I keep running all the scenario's I would use to protect my daughter if I had one from such a fate, but it happened and there is nothing any of us can do about it. Whether one likes it or not, Bristol has "gave great occasion to the enemies"... and that is "baggage" that will be used in the coming election.

I disagree. I don't think that's it, at all. I don't think that Levi Johnston has any "dirt" about Governor Palin; however, I believe that there are liberals who want him to portray himself publically as though he does.
And IF he's not being put up to this, then I'd interpret it as some young manchild who is hoping to make money off this --- and how better to make sure that there will be lots of interviews and TV appearances?

Also, there's another difficulty with your thesis, to wit: IF the Palins paid off the father of their first grandson, then automatically Governor Palin would look like one of the Elite Creeps in D.C., whereas.... frankly, this situation is every American's NIGHTMARE.... and it's not Levi, even, who is nightmarish --- I mean, BobJ, can you possibly imagine permitting one of your grandchildren to spend time unsupervised with a paternal grandmother who's been busted for oxycontin abuse????????
I'm not saying that this is a GOOD situation in which Governor Palin finds herself, but I generally believe that she will fade into the background -- the custody case is between BRISTOL and Levi -- there's no reason for Bristol's mother to be subpoenaed for anything.
And if worse comes to worse, I genuinely think that MOST Americans would empathize with the Palins.

I think you might have arrived a bit late on the thread and also there has been more than one (thread) on the same topic so its well worked over turf! I’m sure once the case actually starts there will no doubt be more.
