Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has been suspended while the school investigates complaints from a player and his family about treatment after an injury.
The school said in a release Monday defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeil will be the interim coach and lead the team in the Alamo Bowl on Jan. 2 against Michigan State.
McNeil will remain in charge of the team until the investigation is complete.

WTF?
I smell Craig James, Gerald Myers and the Houston Chronicle. James’ son plays at Tech and Craig really isn’t happy about it. The Houston Chronicle has had it in for Tech for years. Myers is the athletic director and wants Leach gone - especially after the botched contract negotiations last summer when the Chancellor had to step in and get it finished.
My money says Leach is gone and the whole deal is a crock of $#!+......red (TTU 81)
Sick and tired of complaining and useless players. Worthless bunch of no good losers
I still can’t believe what happened at Kansas. To see Texas Tech go through this is unbelievable.
Useless third class players. Bitching and moaning that the coach “hurt their feelings”. These worthless pieces of crap need to have their scholarships revoked and be issues pink tutus that they can wear to their “Diversity in the workplace” classes.
Unbelievable. As a Texas Longhhorn I had feared both the Mark Mangino and Leach as they were both excellent coaches who built up fearsome teams.
So, hey, good for us then. We don’t even need to fear any good teams in the Big 12 EVER. We are just going to sit back and let any coach who has hurt the feelings of “Precious” be fired
Mmmmm, I’m gonna bet this is a bit more serious than you folks might think. Pretty rare that a college coach is EVER suspended, so I’m bettin this was more serious. I will also bet it involves pressure to play while the kid was pretty seriously hurt, but who knows. I think this will end up being a reasonable suspension.....could be wrong. Coaches get pretty much lattitude to ride players pretty hard, so I’m not sayin, I’m just sayin.
Surely this can be investigated in the coming year.
Yep its Adam James!
Was Craig James on the take causing SMU to get the death penalty?
However, look at what happened to Mangino. Now that all the facts came out, it is clear that along with a big ass Mangino also had a big mouth.
That is it!! He never hit anyone, snorted any cocaine, paid any players, hired any hookers or gambled on his games (all real world examples of previous coaches who went on to win National championships)
So, all Mangino did was be a mouth. He gets fired for that???? After all the good he did for the program
Again, I am Longhorn, so I can sit back and relax and enjoy the carnage. But at the end of the day, this is BAD for the game. We are letting a bunch of cats (insert synonym for “cats” here) ruin the game with their complaining
Must be the fault of one of his fat girlfriends.

I hope the Sand Aggies keep Leach as coach as he is the funniest coach in the entire nation.
Leach always impressed me as being a little nutty. I suspect you're correct about Myers wanting him gone. That said, depending on what was found, there is a precedent for coaches being gone quickly. At the University of Texas, basketball coach Tom Penders lost his job in an afternoon when an assistant coach illegally revealed that a player was on scholastic probation.
This is an odd situation. I'll be interested in hearing the rest of the story.
That James kid will be ridiculed his whole life. His dad should have let the kid take care of it. Not get his dad involved.
Leach needed a new change of scenery anyway. Lubbock would not be at the top of my list to stay there all my coaching life.
I don’t know if james was the one who caused the death penalty, but I do know he made more money playing at SMU than he did in the NFL. The guy is a snake...red
