Jihad 101

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano came in for some well-deserved criticism for declaring over the weekend that "the system worked" with respect to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's effort to blow up the plane he was flying from Amsterdam to Detroit. By Monday, she was backpedalling, acknowledging that "our system did not work in this instance."

In truth, for a lot of Americans, Ms. Napolitano has not had much credibility since she tried to ban "terrorism" from the official lexicon of her department. But arguably the most serious indication that she is wholly ill-equipped to carry out her present responsibilities can be found in another - as yet uncorrected - statement she made on Sunday. She told CNN's "State of the Union" that, "Right now, we have no indication [that Abdulmutallab's actions were] part of anything larger."

... Read my lips, Secretary Napolitano: Abdulmutallab's actions were absolutely, positively part of something larger. What they were part of is the comprehensive theo-political-legal program that authoritative Islam calls Shariah.
This supremacist program requires its adherents to engage in jihad, or holy war, to bring about the triumph of Islam under a global theocracy, one that will impose Shariah on Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Pursuant to Shariah, jihad should - wherever practicable - be pursued through the terrifying use of violence. Where violent jihad is impractical or would be counterproductive, Shariah directs faithful Muslims to use other means to advance the same goal. Koran expert Robert Spencer calls the latter "stealth jihad."
The question must be asked: Are we seeing a dramatic increase in violent jihadism in America ... because violence is now seen to be practicable here?
Specifically, could it be that jihadists have been emboldened by what they see as weakness and/or fecklessness on the part of the U.S. administration? Could steps Team Obama has taken - such as the closure of Guantanamo Bay, the release of some hardened terrorists held there to Yemen (where Abdulmuttalab claims he got his plastic explosive device), granting others access to civilian courts and constitutional rights, etc. - actually be emboldening them to believe that murder and mayhem will accelerate the defeat and conquest of the infidel West?
... We need to be equally clear about the menace posed by those who adhere to Shariah but profess to seek to "Islamicize" America through non-violent means. In the wake of the recent actual and averted attacks, the press has, for example, trumpeted the views of parents of five jihadists from Northern Virginia, imams at mosques where they worshipped and prominent fixtures in the various Muslim Brotherhood front organizations. Unsurprisingly, all of them profess shock - shock! - that these young people would want to do as they have been taught to, pursuant to Shariah: namely, follow the way of jihad against the Dar al-Harb (the "House of War" that is the non-Muslim world).
Nowhere in these disinformation operations is any mention made of the Muslim Brotherhood's self-declared mission in America. According to an internal Brotherhood strategic plan dating from 1991, that mission is: "A kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
As long as Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder, the intelligence community, law enforcement, the military, the media and most especially President Obama refuse to acknowledge what animates our enemies, we will never develop an effective strategy for defeating them, let alone successfully implement it. Part and parcel of achieving such an understanding is to stop allowing the stealth jihadists in our midst to blind us to this reality.

“In short.....if you are a Muslim......you don’t fly..........Period.”

Why should it be either/or? Your position is impossible not for PC but for many other reasons. You know that muslims do fly with El Al, right? Our victory in Iraq would not be possible without Muslim allies. Jihadists kill more Muslims than non-Muslims. And how about Nigerian Muslim father actually reporting on his radicalized son? Itching to have a war with all billion plus Mulsims is counterproductive. And there is no need. Yes, Islam will have to go through their own civil war, and yes we should take sides. And we should profile. And severely limit Muslim immigration. But count me against declaring each and every Muslim an enemy.

Where we did go wrong is in not declaring Wahhabism/Salafism and such as our enemy (or at least quietly treating it as such). CAIR is allowed to be a voice of Muslims in America when they are not. Most of Islamic religious school in America are funded by Saudi Wahhabi money and sing to their tune. British mosques are some of the most radicalized in the world. To allow this is ridicules. Here is our PC mistake very much like allowing painting Clarence Thomas, Condi, Sowell as not authentically black. There are plenty of Muslims who do not support sharia and jihad - we (the west) just ignore them mostly when they should be supported. There is plenty of room for smart strategies and tactics between appeasing and kowtowing to radical Islam and declaring a war on each and every Muslim.

When people get the general understanding of the difference between the “lesser” Jihad, and the “greater” Jihad the motivations of those radicalizing people to commit act like this will give us the tools to combat it, and do it agressively when it is needed...

Joel Rosenberg’s book “Inside the Revolution” is a good read and reference for those concerned about the war on radical islam...

And “Terrorist Hunter” by Anonymous, will get you inside the financing mechanism that supports worldwide terrorist operations...

Sure, people will say, “I have lots of books on terrorism.” but it doesn’t hurt to look at a few more...

What never ceases to amaze me is we are doing some things that really effective in disrupting and therefore protecting us and others around the world from this conventional terrorist activity...What will come to a shock to some, but will not surprise many is the un-conventional threat...

This war will never end, and until folks realize that the bad guys are committed, and will always have a bullpen full of shlups like the guy who tried to bomb the Detroit bound airliner last week...

We have to be right 100% of the time...Whereas the enemy only has to be right once...

Those are not very good odds, but the fight and the pressure needs to be a realistic full court press, or it just makes it easier for them to be right once...

There is plenty of room for smart strategies and tactics between appeasing and kowtowing to radical Islam and declaring a war on each and every Muslim.

Thanks for the ping. But your comments reminded me of a previous ping to an excellent essay by Orson Scott Card. His conclusion makes good sense:

Then, when Muslims themselves are able to excommunicate the barbarians and forbid them to call themselves legitimate Muslims, the religion of Islam can be accepted and trusted as another civilized religion, worthy of the protections of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, however, it is time for us to stop extending the protection of the Constitution to those who, under the guise of religion, are actively promoting the right to deprive Americans of their civil rights – including the right to continue breathing.

America needs to make it perfectly clear that it's up to Muslims to police their own if they wish to be allowed in our country. The Constitution, as it's been said, is not a suicide pact. Nor is any nation, society or people obliged to permit its own destruction - not by any law nor ethical code that can stand the test of reason.

If there are in fact Muslims in our country who utterly oppose their Koran's commands to kill us and destroy our nation, they need to understand that until they openly and formally revise their religion (a la the Protestant Reformation, for instance), they will be, like their unreformed brethren, suspect.

If and when they do begin their religious civil war, we will back them. Until that day, they don't board a plane in our country. And if the innocent among them suffer because of the guilty, it is well within their power to do something about it. Let'em clean their own house.

Thank you for reminding about Card’s post. I admire OSC and like most, but not all, of what you said too.

My point, simplified: the west can win a nuclear showdown with Islam and kill them all. (and I am not arguing with a strawman here, look around FR, for example - so many posters display nothing but bloodthirstiness in varied degrees). But its a horrible price to pay. I hope sincerely that it never comes to that. What to do? Act from the position of strength. Kill Jihadists, confront their supporters. Make them regret it. Osama bin Laden was absolutely right describing this fight basically in “who is the stronger horse - us or them”. Encourage “the fifth column” in Islam. No need to be shy about it. And be patient - it will take many-many years. An Islam reformation won’t happen in a year. While we do that, all calls for killing millions of them (and the poster I replied to was not calling for it, but many other freepers did) are not helpful - they are too easy to ridicule and take attention from the serious discussion of what to do.
