I really don't know who this guy was, but the kicker to the whole story came in the last few paragraphs:
" However, Chesnutt had recently struggled with a lawsuit filed by a Georgia hospital after he racked up surgery bills totaling some $70,000, the Athens newspaper reported. He said he couldn't afford more than hospitalization insurance and couldn't keep up with the payments.
The problems baffled his Canadian bandmates, Chesnutt said.
"There's nowhere else in the world that I'd be facing the situation I'm in right now. They cannot understand what kind of society would inflict that on their population," he said. "It's terrifying."
Did the Canadian health system take care of this guy all these years? If it was soooooo wonderful, WHY did he get treated HERE in the USA (with it's 'terrifying' health care system) instead of GOING TO CANADA FOR FREE TREATMENT?!?!?!

I really don’t know who he was either, and I certainly admit that my next comment will be in horribly bad taste and I will regret posting it at some future point.
A guy name Chestnutt dies on Christmas day. What, was he roasting over an open fire?
/groan
and apologies for making light of his passing.

I would’ve sent his sorry, socialist behind to Cuba. They’d take care of him (euthanasia) free there.

In the article there’s a quote from him about “sensitive punk rockers”,somehow I find it hard to equate the two.

The Athens Banner Herald is probably the most extreme liberal newspaper in Georgia, even more so than the Atlanta Journal Constitution. You can expect them to take the Marxist point of view on any political conversation and support Emperor Obama every second of the day.

According to Wikipedia, he was in a hospital when he died, and died from an overdose of muscle relaxers. I know it’s Wikipedia, but it sounds like there’s a little more to this story. That said, I’d never heard of him.

It seems he was from Georgia, but two or more of his bandmates were Canadian.

People say a lot of things when they're sick or dying.
If you can imagine being in the same spot, maybe you wouldn't hold it against him.
Maybe we should wait until Chestnutt's buried before we start dumping on him.
