A new Battleground Poll shows that “voters tend to describe themselves as angry, pessimistic, anxious, and depressed,” says Celinda Lake, president of Lake Research Partners, a political strategy firm that works for Democratic candidates.
Ms. Lake and Republican pollster Ed Goeas jointly oversee the Battleground Poll.
Things may get worse for office holders after Christmas, as voters deal with holiday bills and with the effects of layoffs that often come just before the end of the year.
“Whatever mood the voters are in right now, they are likely to be in a particularly ornery mood toward every elected official by January,” Lake says. “And one of the more interesting places they may take this out is less at the federal election [level] and more at the governorships. You may see a record number of governorships change party.”
Democrats in trouble?
With Democrats holding control of both houses of Congress, angry voters could spell trouble for the party in 2010 elections, argues Mr. Goeas, CEO of the Tarrance Group.
“There is a potential for [2010] being a 1994 year of the angry white male,” Goeas says. That year, Democrats lost 54 seats and Republicans took control of the House for the first time in 40 years.
Battleground Poll data shows independent voters now rank 13 percentage points higher than Democrats [77 percent versus 64 percent] in saying they are likely to vote in the next election. “So the pool of angry independents is larger than what you normally see in an off election year…. It is certainly something that is going to be problematic for the Democrats,” Goeas says.
Pollsters Goeas and Lake were guests at a Monitor-sponsored breakfast for reporters on Wednesday. The George Washington University Battleground Poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters nationwide Dec. 6 to 9.

When Obama scores 44 to 56 approve/dispprove in the Dec 24 Rasmussen poll, despite getting near 100% approval from blacks, white women must not be keen on him and the Rats either.
I'm Asian Indian and hope that more Asians, lots of whom pay taxes and their mortgages, and support their own children, wake up. I've read that Christie and McDonnell did OK with Asian voters in the NJ and VA gubernatorial elections.
I am more disgusted than angry. Thhe more aware one becomes the more disgusted one gets.
Going to be a lot of angry white males and a whole lot of other angries of all ethnicities and sexes. Down with the Obama classes!

In this case, the two go hand-in-hand.
At the Tea Parties, there are people of all ethnicities that are fed up, and don’t think a lot of Americans of Latino origins are not waking up to the scam of the Socialists now in power.
This may be the year of the ‘disappearing white male’. Looking seriously at visa/citizenship for Australia. The demographics spell doom for this country. Third world culture growing at an exponential rate, constituencies with a hate towards our way of life. I think I’ll sip whiskey in Canberra and watch this ship fall apart.

Then they are fools. The only way to fix this problem is to get rid of the politicians who are running the federal government. They are the ones who are screwing up bigtime.
That is a good question: why are white men “angry”?
Could it be because they’re looked at as piggy banks for everyone else?
Could it be because politicians love to tell everyone how they’re going to stick it to white men while treating white men like piggy banks?
Could it be because discriminating against white men isn’t really discrimination and therefore legal?
Could it be because our government no longer seems to care about issues important to white men, they just want our money to fund the issues that other demographics find important?

There’s a BIG guy in Florida we need to get into the DC pipeline. If you know his story, you’ll know he stands for RIGHT, strict Constitutionalist, backs down to no man or institution, and would have our backs...get him in there in 2010, run a PALIN/WEST or WEST/PALIN ticket in 2012. (Just picture those two on the campaign trail - two extremely sharp, handsome people - who need no TelePrompter - and take no prisoners. They’d set the country on fire. (the fact that they just happen to be a ‘woman’ and a ‘black’ is incidental - but powerful.)
Lt. Col. Allen West, Army AIRBORNE, ret. - 22 yrs military, leader among leaders. When it came to saving his career against saving his men, he spit in the brasses face. (You’ll remember him if you recall what he did. If a dingy Harry tried to bribe or blackmail this man, it would be to his peril.)
West ran for congress in 2008. The local/national GOP did nothing to help him. They are afraid of him like they are of Sarah - afraid he’ll steal their thunder, he’ll outshine them. Well, yeah, he would. And that’s just what we need.

People who love freedom are not only angry, they’re afraid of what lies ahead for their families. And when Mama Bears fear for their little ones....watch out!

It’s not just males either, myself included. There were an awful lot of angry housewives (potential Sarah Palin types) out there shouting down members of congress at the town halls, and having subsequent interviews on FNC. A good portion of Americans are angry and it seems boundless. The sleeping giant has awoken.
Married white women have tended to swing to the conservative side. It is unmarried women and nonwhites that tend to support the Left.
I watch very little television, but when I do I am struck by the demographics of the commercials: White males are usually cast as if an afterthought, and their roles are most often confined to playing idiots or dolts or stumblebums, with a woman or a minority having to come to the rescue. A neighbor who does watch TV told me if I thought the commercials were bad, I should look at the shows themselves. Minorities dominate as persons of authority (judges are overwhelmingly black or female or both; ditto for doctors and politicos: In other words, the “role model” roles are reserved primarily for minorities and women, and if a white male is cast in an authoritative role he is portrayed as corrupt and a crook).
Independents are a strange breed. They tend to sit back when the choice of Candidates stink on both sides. When it appears that the winning side really stinks, they arise and vote for the change the next time around.
Won’t be just white and won’t be just males.
