I watch very little television, but when I do I am struck by the demographics of the commercials: White males are usually cast as if an afterthought, and their roles are most often confined to playing idiots or dolts or stumblebums, with a woman or a minority having to come to the rescue. A neighbor who does watch TV told me if I thought the commercials were bad, I should look at the shows themselves. Minorities dominate as persons of authority (judges are overwhelmingly black or female or both; ditto for doctors and politicos: In other words, the “role model” roles are reserved primarily for minorities and women, and if a white male is cast in an authoritative role he is portrayed as corrupt and a crook).
It has become obvious. However, remember Dr. Goebbels: “Take a lie, make it big enough, repeat it often enough, and people will believe it.”
This crap started 20 years ago.
Do what I do and watch NO television. Does wonders for blood pressure.
