Its no cause for celebration, and Sarah Palins not the type for schadenfreude, but she was right about the death panels. So right, in fact, that the death panels are receiving some very special and probably unconstitutional protection in the Senate health care bill.
The creation of the so-called Independent Payment Advisory Board the panel that decides who goes without coverage so costs can be cut cannot be repealed, according to language Harry Reid has inserted into the bill, without a supermajority vote of two-thirds.
Death panels? There are no death panels! Stop listening to that crazy cackling woman Sarah Palin! There. Are. No. Death Panels! Got it? Got it? Get it!
Who has said this? Why The Media, of course. And dont take it from me. Take it from the left-wing outfit Media Matters, which gave the MSM a big attaboy in its report titled The media have debunked the death panels more than 40 times over. To wit:
Numerous media outlets have now debunked right-wing claims that the House health care reform bill would encourage euthanasia of the elderly, including Sarah Palins claim forwarded by the conservative media that the bill would create a death panel and the related claim initiated by Betsy McCaughey that the bill would absolutely require that seniors on Medicare undergo end-of-life counseling that will tell them how to end their life sooner. Indeed, Media Matters for America has identified more than 40 instances of media reporting that these claims are false.
Thats an interesting use of the term debunk, of course. To debunk something is to prove it isnt true. All the media did with its original propaganda on death panels was ask Democrats, There are no death panels in the bill, are there?
Then, when Democrats said no, the media dutifully reported this as fact.
Debunked!
What Palin said all along was that government-run health care, especially established on the notion that it could somehow cut costs, would inevitably lead to rationing. And she was confident an administration in love with the idea of experts designing systems would put together some sort of panel to decide how to ration the coverage.
Enter the Independent Payment Advisory Board, so important that Harry Reid seeks to protect its existence forever by requiring a two-thirds supermajority to ever kill it.
Why would he require this? If government-run health care is going to reduce costs, and this panel is going to figure out how to do it, it would stand to reason that it would be very popular, wouldnt it? Why worry about anyone ever trying to kill it?
Then again, it would also stand to reason that if ObamaCare was really a good idea, the Senate would pass it in broad daylight during an election year, rather than holding votes at 1 a.m. on a Sunday night, or on Christmas Eve.
The media and Democrats have tried so hard to insist that death panels were a lie, they probably convinced a lot of you. Palin minces no words in calling attention to the latest evidence to the contrary:
Though Nancy Pelosi and friends have tried to call death panels the lie of the year, this type of rationing what the CBO calls reduc[ed] access to care and diminish[ed] quality of care is precisely what I meant when I used that metaphor.
No wonder Reid had to hand out bribes left and right to get to 60 votes on this. No wonder they hold the votes in the dead of night. No wonder theyre desperate to get it done before we find ourselves in an election year, because maybe, if theyre lucky, they can get the voters to start forgetting about this.
ObamaCare may be the worst bill ever considered by any Congress in the history of this country. It is worthy of only one thing, and that is to go before the very death panel it creates, and tries to protect forever the one you probably still think doesnt exist.
I think there’s a way the death panels can be killed...
“I think theres a way the death panels can be killed...”
Rest assured, there IS a way...
IF they breathe air and/or have blood in their veins, I’m sure of it.....
G-d deliver us from these monsters!
God may not be able to....but Smith and Wesson sure can...
If ObamaCare is so wonderful, why did the marxist politicans exclude themselves from it?
If it bleeds, we can kill it. -Dutch
First, G-d is certainly able to do so. Second . . . LOL!
Good to hear. The problem is, G-d uses evil to punish the wicked, and I'm afraid we've been very wicked.
Let us pray, like Abraham, that G-d will not punish the innocent with the guilty.
You can do it.
You just can’t say it.
Orwell was the new Nostradamus.
If, through corruption and ignorance, the voters of the US install a Communist to the presidency, do they not have a right to repeal the changes to government that he institutes?
If not, then bullets will replace ballots. Does Reid really want to go there?
Doesn't that make them "Killer Zombie Panels?"
So that leaves Nancy Pelosi as the real liar, which we knew all along. She just keeps proving it over and over.
So right Rawhide.
All of this can and will be undone after we once again take power.
The only thing that could stop it would be us nominating a worthless liberal presidential candidate. Someone like McCain will not cut it.
>If it bleeds, we can kill it. -Dutch
Which begs the question, “What the hell could have done this (ObamaCare) to a man.”
