Dear Rep. Berman,
Can you tell me if the State of Texas is making any plans to protect Texas citizens from what I believe to be an unconstitutional bill being rammed through Congress? As elected officials who have sworn to uphold the US Constitution, I believe you need to protect us from basically being placed into a position of servitude to the federal government.
I am referring to the "individual mandate" contained in the bill. Absolutely nothing in our constitution authorizes government to force individual citizens to purchase health insurance or buy a product. To do so is tantamount to asserting OWNERSHIP of the individual. If this is allowed to prevail, then they will be able to compel any behavior they want, all based on the notion that all behaviors affect health and health care costs.
Will they tell us what food we can eat, what beverages we can drink, what hobbies we can engage in?
As you know, our founding documents make it clear that our individual liberty flows from our Creator and natural law, existed before the founding of the country, and was not created by the Constitution, but rather, was codified in it. Individual liberty trumps "social good".

No, what we need to do is reform this thing ourselves. For example, California and all the Western states have an initiative process. We have to take charge of this thing through the states, by passing amendments to the state constitutions and passing laws forcing the states to kick in where the federal government programs fail.
We cannot allow the Federal government alone to decide who gets treatment and who doesn’t. So, for example, we add on to this thing ourselves by forcing states through the initiative process to cover any gap in coverage. In that way, at least in the western states, there will be no death panels, because the states will be forced to kick in to pay for any treatment that Medicare or the federal plans fails to cover. And if some states have it, you know others will get pressure to do the same.
We can also have an abortion tax. If the Feds can tax elective surgery so can the states. That tax should equal the cost of the procedure, and the proceeds of the tax can go to orphanages.
That will, of course, bury the states in debt. And that, in turn, will force our state representatives to pass more funding bills to bail out the states. While it is not my intention to be an anarchist, we have to take the initiatives where we can. The federal government has refused the will of the people, so the will of the people must be heard through the states. And since we cannot will this legislation away, we have to make bend it and shape it to suit our will as best we can.
Yes, that is the great opportunity for Texas. Who knows how much oil there is in our waters of the Gulf. And there is lots of natural gas. Plenty of space for refineries, nuclear power plants.

13k rounds myself, but mostly .22. There were over 200 boxes of 9mm at Wally-world last week for just under $10 a box. So Dallas area is starting to stock back up. I read some other posts that said SA area and Houston area were also re-stocking the shelves.
In talking to people that I know, everyone is against this and is in a rage over it. We have a group of thugs destroying our Constitution; destroying our country; destroying our economy; while plotting to steal our freedom behind closed doors in the dark of night. Now what? Not one of the slimes that signs on to this tyranny should be allowed to ever hold office again. Even Democrats, once they realize, they will face a Death Panel won’t be forgiving of their elected RAT. I never believed that I would live to see this treason. My father fought in World War II and in the Korean War. Thank God he’s not here to witness this tyranny. If he were still alive, these Fascists would surely sign his life away. The words I would use to describe Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Nelson, Schumer, and the whole lot of Gestapo agents would be banned by the Mods.
North of Dallas (think closer to Oklahoma) and barn has a bar, projection TV, foosball, pool table, and a dance floor. Back side could easily fit the tractor, implements and hay. Only reason it hasn’t sold is he’s asking too much. No hurry for him to sell since they do their skeet shooting out there and have their family holidays. I think deep down he doesn’t want to part with it.
Another Illinoisian here.....hope there’s room for me too. Can’t believe the Republican Senate leadership caved and allowed this vote early tomorrow so they can be home for Christmas. Guess there are too many of them that want to get their hands on that pot of money as much as the radical Dems. No more RINO’s-—only fiscal conservative Constitutionalists!

Same problem with me. I send him letters saying he has been “appointed, not elected” and I have kept my voting in Colorado (even though I split time in CO and OK), just so I can vote against him. Don’t care who at this point. BUT, he keeps sending me these “I know you love how I vote” crap. Sickening, I have started to put him in spam.

One word of caution. When you buy land in Texas, DO NOT FAIL to secure the mineral rights!!!
