Five Republican representatives Chris Smith, Frank Wolf, Joe Pitts, Trent Franks and Anh "Joseph" Cao have written a letter to Ugandan President Yoweri Mouseveni pressing him to stop pending legislation that would severely criminalize homosexuality and sometimes impose the death penalty for homosexual acts.
In the letter, which you can read in full here, the men say their religious faith requires them to oppose the legislation because it contradicts the "foundational Christian belief in the inherent dignity and worth of all men and women."
The Ugandan law has become a hot topic in America because, as National Public Radio reports, "U.S. evangelicals have long had a close relationship with top Ugandan leaders." Some see the influence of American lawmakers in the drafting of the legislation, which is popular in Uganda.
"A U.S. evangelical group called The Family reportedly includes U.S. lawmakers who have shown great interest in Ugandan affairs," according to NPR. "The bill's proponents are reluctant to talk about whether The Family supports them in any way."

They all gather sticks.
Are these Log Cabin Republicans ?
Why don’t these brave dickweeds write letters to all the islamic countries that severely punish the mariposas?
No kidding, WTF.
I’d like to get a copy of the bill and introduce it here...
Pushing.. the envelope !
And they wonder why they lose elections and constituents
TEABAGGER or FISTER
you decide
Rick Warren has psoken against the anti-gay Ugandan law. What does Rev. Mike Huckabee have to say about it?
I’m not quite understanding how it makes the Republicans gay to stand against imposing the death penalty on gays. Frankly, I would think any reasonable person would find harsh penalties or death for homosexuality to be abominable. Leave it to God to punish or not punish them.
Maybe they figure it'll help Scozafazza retake NY 23 next time. /sarc>
Cheers!
Agreed. I wonder about some posters here.
If these congressmen or whatever they are wrote strongly worded letters to every government around the world for every repressive law, then their actions, if not making sense, would at least be consistent.
Do they write letters to all the Muslim countries protesting their laws against freedom of speech and religion? Making it a crime to be a Christian/Jew/Buddhist/Hindu?
No?
Then they should STFU about Uganda’s internal business.
Are homosexual acts so sacred and worthy that protesting laws against them should be more important than other laws in other countries that legalize torture and death for all manner of freedoms we take for granted?
This is just a sop to their pevert constituency.
Suppose an AIDS-infected sodomite deliberately condemns dozen of strangers to death with his promiscuous distribution of said virus? "Gays" in America comprise 4% of the population -- and provide 63% of the syphilis cases.

Okay, I received a sign that I should get active and do some pingifying again. My comments about this little jewel of an article are above.
Actually about 2% of the population but basically you are right.
They punish themselves with their own actions. But the “gay” agenda is punishing everyone else, which is against the Constitution and natural law. As well as common sense.
