Reid, McConnell Reach Deal to Adjourn Early
Roll Call ^ | December 23, 2009 | By John Stanton

Posted on 12/22/2009 11:58:40 AM PST by MaestroLC

Senate Republicans have agreed to end their filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) health care reform bill a few hours early on Christmas Eve, a move that will allow the GOP to technically stick to its promise to force Dec. 24 vote on the measure while still making it possible for Senators to return home for the holiday.

I believe it is time to form a new Third Party, period.
++++++++++++++

Practically, how do you overcome this?:

“In the history of the United States, not a single third party has come close to winning the presidency, only 7 3rd parties have even won a single state’s electoral votes and only 5 third parties have won even 10% of the vote.”

“The time for talking has passed.”

We need to get in their faces and punch back, punch back hard.

Tell your senator to tell McConnel that this is unacceptable and the republicans must use every means possible to stop this bill.
++++++++++++++

I agree. But I sure wish I had R Senators who might care...:(

You're nuts.

The GOP didn't give one vote to this thing, and you want to divide it ensuring radical democrat control until your gand children are old?

Please get a brain soon and work to make the GOP solidly conservative and we'll be much better off.

The spin to convince yourself is typical of those who look at the world through a straw.

On the plus side, the liberals are paying a horrific price. No thanks to the GOP though. Race by race polling that both parties have shows support for the Democrat party cratering more dramatically than in 1994. Bringing up immigration will only make it worse for them. Pretty sure an amnesty bill wont’ pass but Obama has to bring it up to pay off the Hispanic caucus and appease some of the liberals who really hate him right now. And even if health care passes, there are going to be a blizzard of lawsuits and fights over this bill for years to come. The libs think this battle will be over when Obama signs a bill. They are profoundly wrong.

Flame away, but I don't see how this is selling out.

Rule #1: Never trust a "deal" with Harry Reid. NEVER.

Rule #2: In the face of Tyranny, you DO NOT surrender.

EVERY procedural obstacle must be employed ... as they promised just a few days ago.

Considering the sacrifices made by those who came before us, I have not an iota of sympathy for those who surrender DURING the battle ... so they can be home for Christmas.

Geez, and I was just feeling good about the Republicans for standing firm in the previous vote.

It would be interesting to compile a Conservative keep list for Congress...has anyone done that? What are there about 50 to 75 total of the 211 Rs, if I were to guess.

Obama is making a sacrifice by sticking around for the vote.

Start by showing up in DC at SOTU and start tossing shoes at Capitol Hill (if I recall, Medals were once tossed). We can work our way up from there.......

If you ever wondered if the whole two-party system was a sham, well, here’s all the proof you need.

I’m done.

I’m officially done with the whole mess.

I’m done voting.

I’m done caring.

I’m done with patriotism.

I’m done with the wars.

They won’t get my children to use up in any future war. I won’t fight unless the enemy is standing on my doorstep.

I’m going to sacrifice exactly squat for this once-great country. They can all kiss my *ss!

I’m done with it all.

The rest is looking out for me and mine. Just like the power mongers.

I wish you all well.

Interesting blog: The McConnell Obstruction Record on Big Ticket Items.

Larry Pratt of Gun Owners for America is one of those savant types like Michael Barone. Where Barone can tell you everything about your neighborhood regardless of him ever having been there, Larry Pratt can quote you chapter and verse of legislation passed and the maneuverings to pass it.

[snip]

Out of frustration, Larry Pratt pulled forth from his database of Senate debacles Mitch McConnell’s history of defeating big ticket, controversial items.

Read below and you’ll see that if the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again expecting a different result, our fearless Minority Leader might be insane.

Senator Mitch McConnell has lost almost every major legislative battle he has managed.

[snip]

We should also point out that under Mitch McConnell’s leadership, the Senate GOP has gone from 55 Senators to 40.

That keep number will be much higher after 11/2010. I’m also in favor of term limits. That would knock out a LOT of RATS in the long run, and I generally trust a newbie more than some RATcumbent. That would put a lot more emphasis on new blood, and we’d need to reach the youth with our message.
