Lovely, now the retard patrol has hit the thread. Give the guy a chance before you condemn him as a RINO/Trojan Horse. Or at least bother to actually know what the devil you’re talking about - you could start by actually looking at his voting record, people.

Seems to me that he already is a conservative, if his voting record on major recent issues means anything.

I agree.

why on earth would we need to "run a conservative against him in the primary"? So we can split the vote and let the Dems have the seat back?

Knee jerk ideological purity gave us a 60 seat Rat Senate. How's that working for us?

The capital should be moved to Omaha or Kansas City or something.

Too bad it wasn’t a Senator. May Arlen Specter burn in Hell.

No kidding. The idiots who think you have to run a FReeper in Massachusetts or else you're "selling out" are the Democrats' best friends.

Shelby did the same thing after defeating Jeremiah Denton many years back. He has been a fairly reliable Senator however I'd take Sessions over him any day.

WOW . . . I live in his district. I was a tough fight last year but the GOP ran a wuss. WOW I forget how long a Dem, Bud Cramer held this seat before Parker Griffith won it after Cramer’s retirement.

Bud Cramer won because he was the ranking Dem on an appropriations committee that was important to North Alabama. When he retired the state lost that leverage.

“Run a conservative against him in the next primary.”

I’m sorry that I cannot agree. We need to encourage more of this behavior. We need to get back into the majority ASAP so 0bamacare and cap and tax never even make it to the floor.

Like all converts, I expect him to be among the most faithful - at least for the foreseeable future.

I don’t give a flying frig about encouraging other democrats to switch to the GOP. I don’t want more GD RINOS in this party when we are working to beat the one we already have out of the party.

Seems to me that the Democrats who have switched to the GOP are rarely troublesome. It's the homegrown Northeastern (either in geography or mindset) Rockefeller Republican types - people who've been registered R since they started voting - are the ones causing most of the problems.

Ronald Reagan and Charles Krauthammer were once loyal Democrats. I’d keep either one of them.

I don’t know about Alabama, but in NC almost all local pols are Democrats even though many are extremely conservative. It is possible that he thought the DC crowd was just another bunch of home-boys but found out differently.
