Graham told The Associated Press Monday he wants Attorney General Henry McMaster to review how Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson was able to spare his state higher Medicaid costs as the Democrat held out for perks for his state in the mammoth bill.
Graham says it doesnt pass the smell test and is sleazy politics that creates legal problems.
McMasters spokesman said the attorney general will discuss the issue with Graham.
Nelsons spokesman didnt immediately respond to questions Monday.
But Democrats back home praised his efforts.
PING!!
I'm guessing this refers to Nelson.
Nelson’s deal: bribery pure and simple - using our money. I thought bribery was illegal. Why aren’t Nelson and Reid in jail?
For weeks people talked about health care mandates as an unconstitutional law. I don’t know about that but one man one vote and all are created equal are not a part of this bill - Florida has three counties with special rules as do some states - that is the unconstitutional part of this law. It will take about a year for this to go through the courts. The line item veto was killed in the surpreme court and this type of bill will be too.
Do you think the states will fight this bill?
I wouldn't bank on it. The GOP hasn't.
Ping.
What about on a state by state basis? Or the Free State project?
Perhaps we should all be asking our State Attorney Generals to check into this.
it refers to North Omaha and the University campus in Lincoln....thank goodness democrats are few and far between here!
Thanks for the ping AAC! Is Lindsey Graham posturing again? The guy is such a loose cannon it’s very difficult to figure out just where he hangs out in the liberal - conservative continuum. It almost seems like he flips a coin to decide. Strange guy.
BTW, Gov. Perry, where are you? Think I'll email his office tomorrow...
If it's a national bill, how can some pay less - or none -and others have to pay all their share and the ‘free states’ share too?
Why wouldn't all the separate deals dingy H has made with different states - by threat, bribes, pay offs and blackmail- be illegal? (I was going to say, unconstitutional, but I’m not sure we have one anymore.)
It would, however, be ironic if Graham, of all people, managed to throw a monkey wrench into the gears of this runaway train.
Yeah and I asked the bank to pay me for loss the of value of my house. I have a better chance of a refund than Graham has of a hearing, or anything approaching a legal inquiry.
Lindsey is just upset that he wasn’t able to weasel in a way to get “bi-partisan” corruption in the bill.
If only Obama would have returned Lindsey’s and John’s calls, we could of had the support of the “gang of losers” for this bill too.
This latest step, is his next best way to get on TV. Go Lindsey Go... You really need more face time with the media.
“I have a better chance of a refund than Graham has of a hearing, or anything approaching a legal inquiry. “
This one is worth watching. Most likely, this will be investigated by the state attorney general. There’s also talk of moving toward state nullification of the healthcare requirements. South Carolina has a history of state nullification of federal laws going back to the 1830s.
I can’t imagine how legal action would not happen. It is one thing for a hospital to get money in a bill it is antoehr to give an entire group of people - residents of a state or a county special privleges. One man one vote.
