Over the weekend, the Daily News reported that Fox News host Geraldo Rivera has told Fox News founder and chairman Roger Ailes he'll quit if Ailes hires Lou Dobbs.
Rivera tells Rush & Molloy, "I never threatened to quit," adding, "The last time I checked, no one here was talking to the a-â." A rep for Ailes concurs, telling the paper he isn't looking to add Dobbs to either FNC or FBN.
And all this reminded us about a situation a few years ago just after Rivera signed a reported 6-year $36m contract with NBC. In August, 1998 Newsweek reported on a riff between Rivera and then NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw. Rivera complained in a TV Guide interview that promos for his CNBC show "Rivera Live" didn't air during "Nightly" because Brokaw banned them. He also seemed to be gunning for Brokaw's job, telling TV Guide he was, "in the running for the center chair at the desk of the wise men."
A day after the quotes leaked, Rivera issued this statement: "Tom Brokaw is a great newsman who does a terrific job and the rivalry between us is grossly overstated." He also explained that his ambition to be "the news anchor for the next millennium" did not extend beyond his role as a CNBC host.
Rivera left NBC after the 9/11 attacks going to work for Fox News as a war correspondent.
He’ll be good on MSNBC hitting on Rachel Mad-cow. Ever notice how many libtards appear to talk out of the side of their mouths???
Of course on FOX these days it's hard to tell who's ego is the biggest. Is it Rivero, O'Really, Hannity, pr Shepherd Smith? Get rid of all four of them as far as I'm concerned.
FOX needs new faces especially at 6:00pm. Fred, Mort, Charlie the fence straddler, and Juan are so predictable if you've heard them once you've heard them 1000 times. Put John Gibson back on the air and give someone like Patti Ann Browne who actually can report the news the 6:00pm slot or at least a primetime one. The field reporters are the only real thing FOX has going for it and a few of them like Karl Cameron could leave and I wouldn't miss them a bit.
Oh nooooo... there goes my early to work Fridays. /s
My exact thought.
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Bye
Buh-bye Mustachio, you creep. Don't let the door hit you in the @ss on the way out.
Bu-Bye Geraldo! and I don’t know much about Lou Dobbs. FOX would be very wise to give Laura Ingram her own show (in place of O’Reilly).
I am praying that Roger Ailes hires Lou Dobbs and FIRES RIVIERA, O’REILLY and Beckel!! and cans Colmes for good as well!!
Fire him out of general principal.
...adios jerk!
No it’s not you. It realy does suck on the weekends.
I'm sure the rest of the posts are fantastic, funny and true, but I did not find it necessary to read about Jerry beyond the post #2. (my 1st poetry post ever at FR)
Geraldo can’t go.
His brother would be OUT OF A JOB!
This is a way for Geraldo to get fired and still keep his pride.
Of course I speculate.
But Geraldo is not liked at all by a large portion of Fox viewers. His show does terrible.
So you put out a rumor about a threat to quit then boom, Geraldo quits on “moral” principles.
Of course again for my scuttlebutt to be true, Fox would have to hire Dobbs. I’ve not seen any indication of this but hey...TADA...maybe Dobbs could replace Geraldo.
They bring Geraldo on Fox and Friends once a week but he’s awful, he’s really, really awful.
I do think his days are numbered.
Turn the channel when he comes on....also, what the heck is up with Lemont Hill?
Recovering_Democrat
...since Dobbs gave that interview with the Mexican station and basically joined the amnesty crowd, I find that I cannot watch him either...
What a wondeful thing; I can’t stand Jerry Rivers.
Don’t let the door hit you in the a?? on the way out!
PLEASE FOX, HIRE LOU DOBBS!!!
Let's face it, Geraldo is more of a CNN type of guy...
