ObamaCare: No Exit. Escape only open to the rich
NY Post ^ | December 21, 2009 | SCOTT GOTTLIEB

Perhaps the most common question I'm asked about ObamaCare is: "Will I be able to buy my way out of it?" The answer is: "Not unless you're very rich."

The plan before the Senate creates a set of 50 state-based insurance "exchanges" that are established as markets for health plans. Consumers must buy policies from their employers or through the exchanges — but, either way, their choice of coverage is limited to one of four basic insurance plans that the government sanctions.

Private insurers will still compete to offer policies but must model their coverage on one of these four templates. In short, the Senate bill explicitly standardizes health benefits and then establishes elaborate mechanisms (including subsidies and penalties) to pay for them.

Unbelievable. Who do these yo-yos in Congress think they are?

Gonna be real interesting what happens next election IF we can have a fair election in the face of Zero’s goon squads.

Also going to be interesting to see how they handle a citizen like me who is in the states less than 30 days a year.

The people who just passed legislation in Congress in the wee hours of the morning before Christmas against the will of a clear majority of Americans who made their wishes known loudly and clearly. The people who are supposed to govern by the consent of the governed, but just spit in the faces of the voters who sent them there to represent their wishes. If they believe that they can do this with impunity, and they just did it, we are indeed in trouble. It doesn’t appear to me that for whatever reason, they are very concerned with being thrown out of office.

The the number of private health insurers will shrink year by year. When the policies of their current clients expire they’ll close up shop and move their assets into other industries. That’s been the White House plan all along: Over-regulate private insurance out of the market and bring in the public option.

I’m just one year shy of my 30th year owning a construction company. The attitude decline of most employees since The Usurper was elected is nothing short of appalling.
With this new travesty, I am strongly leaning towards making 2010 a year of winding down and closing up shop and let the miserable f***ers fend for themselves.

Well, now we’re going to have the quality of health care that is on a par with our quality of public education, except in this case, it’s going to cost people their lives.

I disagree with one point in the article. You are only stuck with Medicare if you cannot afford private insurance.

Yes,

The “poor” pay much less, while the rest of us hard working Americans get the shaft and make up the difference. Our government premiums will double and the IRS will enforce the penalties and interest. And this will come out of our paychecks immediately like FICA.

There will also become several new massive agencies created at a huge expense to those of us with jobs. Amnesty for illegals will also be declared and all 30 million of them will be ushered into the system for immediate care and benefits.

America as we used to know it, is no more.....

“The the number of private health insurers will shrink year by year. “

Maybe over the short haul, but I predict the same thing that is happening in Britain will happen here, only faster. The UK is moving steadily toward more and more privatization. People will not put up with the mess this is going to create. Although it will be difficult to entirely repeal this piece of garbage, lots of things that are easier to accomplish can be done. For instance, passing amendments that expand the types of policies that insurance companies can offer.

There are a lot of people who had no idea what they were supporting when they said they were for ‘health care reform’ that are going to be very unhappy. The current plan is to balance to costs of caring for the sick and the elderly by forcing those who don't need lots of coverage into expensive all-inclusive plans. So, the young and healthy will pay much more than they would have.

Hospitals that can't get adequate payment for things like MRIs etc. will have to stop offering them. This will shrink the number of places patients can get these tests, and thus increase waiting times and accessibility. People who were used to the US system in which one could have a lump evaluated immediately, or get a stress test within a day or two, will not be able to get these tests as readily, and so people are going to have to live with their fears for longer periods before they can be tested and either diagnosed and treated, or reassured by normal test results.

You can't have it both ways.

Now the border walls will have to be built along Mexico.

To keep Americans in.

With all the news coverage and punditing about healthcare reform, I’m at the point where I’m just going to sit back and watch what happens once the legislation is enacted.

I’ve voted. I’ve emailed. I’ve signed petitions. I’ve made donations. As a good citizen, that’s pretty much all I can do until the next round of elections. I have enough faith in American democracy to believe that the country will survive.

I worked in the Health Insurance Biz for 20 years. Up until 1992. I quit when they rolled out “managed care”. I remember meetings where this was discussed. The word was that we would end up with four major insurance companies doing Administrative Services only. This is just where we are. A government run Closed Panel HMO with the Government as the “Gatekeeper”. It is going to be truly AWFUL. The only bright spot is that at least the brilliant American People who have voted in these Scoundrels will get what they are due.

Because its not the voters they need to worry about, its the people who count the votes. They have those well in hand.

They will design this to break the private insurance system. Their end goal is for Single Payer Socialism. They have said this all along.

Their next move will be Amnesty. They will guarantee 30 million new Democrat voters when they do. Why else do you think they have been so blatantly arrogant, knowing that over 70% of all current Americans do NOT want this?
