The health reform Christmas gifts for Sens. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Ben Nelson of Nebraska are well known . But somewhere out there is another good little legislator who got funding for a hospital in their state.
But which senator? Which hospital? It is a health care whodunit.
Somewhere out there in the United States is a Health Care Facility at a public research university in the United States that contains a States sole public academic medical and dental school.
We know this because in the bill Democrats released Saturday morning is a $100,000,000 check for that hospital (presumably there is only one).
Republicans poring over the bill Democrats released Saturday found this on page 328:
(a) APPROPRIATION.There are authorized to be appropriated, and there are appropriated to the Department of Health and Human Services, $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2010, to remain available for obligation until September 30, 2011, to be used for debt service on, or direct construction or renovation of, a health care facility that provides research, inpatient tertiary care, or outpatient clinical services. Such facility shall be affiliated with an academic health center at a public research university in the United States that contains a States sole public academic medical and dental school. (Managers Amendment To H.R. 3590, Pg. 328)

"Democratic staffers say there are 11 states with medical schools that could qualify for the funding (were still waiting for the list). The Secretary of HHS would decide who gets a piece of the $100,000,000 pie."
It seems that they might be willing to spread the PAYOLA around a little. How gracious of them.
Harry Reid, like Tiger Woods knows that if you have enough money to throw around you can get a lot of people to bend over. Who knew old Harry swung both ways?
Lets start counting Harrys Hos
Why, it’s just like trolling a hundred dollar bill
through a trailor park....
Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I challenge the notion that it hasn’t been a transparent process, Axelrod told host John King on CNNs “State of the Union.”
Oregon, I’ll bet. Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, the sole medical school and dental school.
Find the crookedest state with the most corruption and biggest payoffs.
Only a small fraction of the $100 million will reach “the people,” whoever the hell they are.
The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg |
|
A man and his wife owned a very special goose. Every day the would lay a golden egg, which made the couple very rich. "Just think," said the man's wife, "If we could have all the golden eggs that are inside the goose, we could be richer much faster." "You're right," said her husband, "We wouldn't have to wait for the goose to lay her egg every day." So, the couple killed the goose and cut her open, only to find that she was just like every other goose. She had no golden eggs inside of her at all, and they had no more golden eggs. |

Too much greed results in nothing. |
Was thinking the same thing.
If you're going to tell a bald-faced lie, make it a whopper.
Could it be the University of Iowa in Iowa City?
It is most likely a ten story abortion mill, with two hundred “Doctors” doing abortion round the clock.
I’ll bet that hospital where Michelle worked will get the money.
This is pretty obviously the bribe Senator Webb demanded. They’ll just add it on at a site across the street from the Army’s replacement for Walter Reed hospital in Springfield VA.

My guess is it is for LSU’s Medical and Dental schools.
Louisiana.
Thought there was a post on a separate thread suggesting it was Nevada
There ought to be a law ... :-(
