The chairman of Nebraska's Republican Party predicts that Sen. Ben Nelson's decision to back sweeping health care legislation will be his downfall.
"I think this is the end of his political career in the state of Nebraska, says Mark Fahleson. On Saturday, the state party launched a Web site, givebentheboot.com, to collect funds to oust the Democrat in the 2010 election.
Nelson said earlier Saturday that he decided to support the measure after winning concessions to limit the availability of abortions in insurance sold in newly created exchanges, as well as tens of million in federal Medicaid funds for Nebraska.
Fahleson says Americans are outraged by the legislation and "they're going to punish politicians at the polls."

Bye Bye Ben!
Another question to ask ourselves: Why do these traitorous vermin exist in political office anyway?
“predicts that Sen. Ben Nelson’s decision to back sweeping health care legislation will be his downfall. “
He can always make a good living at he Mustang Ranch near Las Vegas.
He has shown he knows the tricks of the trade.
Bet you any amount of money you want to right now that Nelson is re-elected in 2012 (barring him dying or something weird like that)....
Remind them that their vote effects ALL US Citizens, not just the ones in their state.
There are also cuts to the VA, Medicare, nursing homes, and Tri Care for Life (retired Military health insurance, plus taxes on special needs children.
The thread header says they want to oust him in 2010. This doesn’t give me confidence in this operation. He’s not up for re-election until 2012.
Are they considering recall? If so, why not start it now?
It's been a done deal for weeks. Anybody who thought he was "deliberating" was being played. He has no intention of running for reelection then or now. If he doesn't retire then you can be sure that an Ambassadorship in the Bahamas or a cushy job at the now federally subsidized Mutual of Omaha is waiting for him in 2013.
I know Nelson doesn't care but the state of Nebraska is taking a beating in the blogs and boards. It tough being a whore's child.
It stinks.....
Wouldn’t that be sweet!
Amen. The good people of Nebraska do not deserve this SOB.
Like that matters! All that matters is what the voters want. Apparently the majority of voters wanted a dem voting for their interests.
Is this what most Americans want?
Sorry. Obviously, yes it is.
Does Nebraska Constitution provide for recall?
I wouldn’t give a penny to an operation that wants to oust in 2010 someone not up for re-election in 2012 unless they are talking about recall. If they are , they should say so.
Sounds like a real amateur hour operation.

Well, if I knew you, and could find you to collect my winnings, I'd be all over that bet, and I'd set an amount with lots of zeroes on the end of the number.
As of now, I'd predict a TKO: Nelson, who will be 71 in 2012, retires gracefully, collects his Senate retirement benefits, his Nebraska Governor retirement benefits, and writes or talks for money in his remaining years.
If he runs for reelection in 2012, with Obama at the top of the ticket, he'll be annihilated. McCain beat Obama in Nebraska 57-42 in 2008; W. beat Kerry 66-33 in 2004. I suspect the 2012 numbers in Nebraska will be closer to the 2004 results than the 2008 results. And I don't think Nelson, given his recent treachery, can overcome a drag like that.
Let's help give Ben the boot!
The U.S. Constitution does not allow states to recall members of Congress.
I may be having a blond moment, but having just re-read the Constitution in regards to the Senate, I can’t find where a Senator can not be removed.
Can you tell me where that particular clause lies?
