A Second Shot Heard ‘Round the World
Vanity | 12/18/09 | Cyberrat

Posted on 12/18/2009 11:35:42 AM PST by Cyberrat

The American Revolutionary War began in Massachusetts with the Battles of Lexington and Concord, on April 19th, 1775. Following what Emerson referred to as the “Shot heard ‘round the world”, a small fledgling colony stood up against the tyranny of the greatest military force on earth… And won. Great men and women stood up in perilous times and prevailed against what appeared to be unconquerable odds. Some have referred to the present day as perilous times, and once again the people of Massachusetts have an opportunity to set into motion a political revolution.

On January 19th, a special election will be held to fill a Senate seat that has been controlled by the Kennedy family since 1953. Leaving the individual politics of the candidates aside, there is very much more at stake here than simply who will be the new Jr. Senator from Massachusetts. The political future of the nation could be at stake.

It is currently a foregone conclusion that the seat will remain Democrat. But what if it doesn’t? What if the unthinkable happens, and a Republican actually wins the Kennedy heirloom? That would not only make national news, it would make international news. The headline writes itself: “Massachusetts voters fire second shot heard ‘round the world!”

However, the true importance of this election lies in the effect it would have on voters in 2010. Talk about energizing the base. The momentum that a GOP victory in Massachusetts would cause would be unstoppable. People would actually believe that that the Republicans can win in 2010, and win big. The Obama Administration would be dead in its tracks, and liberals would be wandering around dazed and confused (I mean more so than they already do).

So if you live in Massachusetts, or if you know anybody who lives in Massachusetts, please, convince them to get out and vote for Scott Brown. I know there are some who disagree with him on certain issues, but the implications of a GOP victory in this race far outweigh issue politics.

Too many Massachusetts Republicans and conservatives have felt helpless for far too long, and this is the first opportunity in well over 50 years to change that. So get out and hold signs, email, blog, and do whatever you can to bring about a GOP victory. January 19th could be the first battle in a second American Revolution, and once again, victory could rest in the hands of a few Massachusetts patriots. We won before, and we can do it again.

"Since her days in the Middlesex County D.A.s office as a assistant DA, Martha Coakely has given me the impression that she is far left of Ted Kennedy, and I despise the Kennedys. Lets not forget how she railroaded the entire Amerault family into prison, for years in the Fells Acres Daycare child rape case"

That is exactly right, and one of the many reasons why it is so important to rally support for Scott Brown.

As I have said on other threads with similar themes regarding this race, I am so sick and tired of the National GOP. They have the mentality that, we cant win so we wont play in this election. This is why we cant win elections in Massachusetts, because it is a given a democRAT will win. Always fight to the end, you never know what will happen. Did the Red Sox give up in 2004 when down 0 to 3 to the Yankees, even though they lost to them for 86 years????
Churchill said, never, never, never give up!

" Brown isn't perfect, but he's good enought o get my vote (I ABSOLUTELY refuse to ever vote for a RINO again). Coakley is such an unlikable nutcase that there is a slight chance that Brown will win."

Exactly, and thank you!

Precisely! That is why I started this thread. I refuse to write off this election, and, like it or not, if Brown does win in January, I believe it WILL have an effect in November. We can not assume that the GOP will win in November only because Obama is cratering now, any more than we can assume that Coakley will win next month.

2010 is key to reclaiming this Republic, and rendering Obama powerless. January is the first step.

I think the most important thing to happen in US politics over the next few years is that the GOP get to know that if they don't run a conservative they will lose. Because the opponent is a moonbat should not be a reason to vote for any GOP candidate especially in this political environment.
I haven't looked at this persons website yet so cannot comment - hopefully there won't be any “reaching out” “across the aisle” “coming together in big tents” “moving to the center” and other such rinospeak there.

I’ll ignore your “wanker” comment for the time being. Please point out any inaccurracies in my comment. Explain why such beacons of freedom and the American way keep getting elected in that cesspool? I understand majority rule, and know that you aren’t voting for any of the scum, but you guys are screwed for the forseeable future.
Here it is December 18th and this is the first I’ve heard of Scott Brown(I think that’s his name)The election is in what? A few weeks?

Thanks for approaching it in this way, Cyberrat.

Some people aren’t interested in changing anything. I think some folks just like to bitch, and if they can point somewhere else instead of their own state, all the better.

Better to demonize someone else.

There was another Freeper who is virulently against this guy because his stance isn’t sufficiently anti-abortion. He would rather have Coakley win, who is at the same level Obama is, which is as far to the left as anyone could possibly go, than to elect someone he classifies as a RINO.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. We need people to be enthusiastic all over the country for this candidate, because if he can win, anyone can, and that means there is hope to regain control of our country.

I am not interested (yet) in formally Balkanizing this country, because that means I will have to move. But some people like to throw that out as a solution. It isn’t. The solution is to take back our government, one seat at a time. If we cannot do that, well, then I’ll reconsider.

I plan to contact his campaign this week to offer my services.

And, by the way...thanks for the ping Trooprally...:)

Good. I am glad you live someplace free of moonbats and corrupt politicians.

Just stay the hell out of our way. If we can accomplish anything, it will be in spite of the likes of you.

Epithet withdrawn, with apology. The “F you yankee loons” attitude from those fortunate enough to live somewhere else gets tiring. Some of us are trying to set it right. The author’s point was simply that the chance to unseat the Union thug/demonrat stranglehold on this state is non-zero for the first time in a long time. Chicago dem thugs have nothing on the Northeast dem thugs. Cheers.

No. Having an asshole attitude like yours will result in continued defeat. Justly deserved, I’d say.

Thank you rlmorel, for reading and considering my post. I knew I would hit some resistance for a post like this, but I am made more hopeful by the fact that there are Freepers such as yourself, who are willing and able to look at the big picture, and who truly love our nation, and have her best interest at heart.

Nice ad-hominem attack. With your posts pretty devoid of intelligence, I’m not surprised that is your first resort.

What someone like you doesn’t understand is that it is a defeat for all of us.

But you’re too shallow, apparently to understand that. But I wouldn’t characterize the rest of the people in your state that way. That’s what you do.

Scotsman will be Free to rlmorel:

"No. Having an ####### attitude like yours will result in continued defeat. Justly deserved, I’d say."

No Sir. It is an attitude such as yours that very nearly prevented this union from being formed in the first place.

It was Ben Franklin who said "We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately".

Of course, I am explaining this to a man who referred to my home state as a cesspool in an earlier post. In spite of that, I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you love this country as I do.

That being said, I think we can agree that our nation is in trouble. Our current President is moving us rapidly towards socialism. He is doing this with the aid and consent of the Congress. We as citizens have the ability to throw out that Congress, and I believe we will.

My point is that the upcoming Massachusetts special election, which comes at a strange time due to the death of Ted Kennedy, opens an opportunity for conservatives to take back a Senate seat which the Kennedy clan has controlled for 56 years. It is an historic opportunity, and I am doing everything I can to see that it is not wasted.. As an American, I'm sure you can appreciate that, and I know that you and I can agree that we both want the GOP to retake the Congress in 2010. I am only suggesting that this election is a first step toward that end.

Our perspectives may differ, but I know that our goals, as conservative Americans, are the same.

Regardless of our love for our country, and our countrymen, and our willingness to risk all for it and them, it does us no service to be unable to refer to cesspool cities and states as such, if only to guard against the infectious miasma that oozes from them.

I live in one such. We call it Michiganistan. Those of us who could leave, have. We who remain hope that the inevitable outbreak of cannibalism in the Great Cesspool, the (broken-down-) motor city, will reduce the leftward tilt of the voting population sufficiently to elect mere idiots, rather than the committed leftists currently mis-governing, and in the ensuing confusion we may find opportunities for renewed growth— or a final escape.

"...it does us no service to be unable to refer to cesspool cities and states as such..."

ExGeeEye,

It does us an even greater disservice to refer to our own homes as such. Neither Massachusetts nor Michigan are cesspools. They both have problems, as do many parts of our country, but in the words of Captain James Lawrence: "Don't give up the ship".

You and I both have much to be thankful for, and much to fight for, in spite of what may have happened to our home states over time.

So that's what we do. We fight for what we love. Be politically active. If you don't have work, remember that you have skills that will get you work, as long as you keep trying. Have faith. Faith goes a long way. Remember that you're not alone, and remember never give up the ship.
