Sen. Inhofe (R) In Lion’s Den in Copenhagen
fox news ^ | December 17, 2009 | William La Jeunesse

The leading global warming skeptic in the U.S. Senate shocked reporters in Copenhagen with a dose of American reality with his prediction Thursday morning that the U.S. Senate will not pass a carbon ‘cap and trade’ bill, regardless of the commitment President Obama is expected to make here tomorrow.

“I am here to make sure the 190 countries here don’t go home with the false impression,” said sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla. “The United States is not going to pass cap and trade. It just isn’t going to happen. Its chances are zero.”

Inhofe said just 25 Senators would support the type of carbon reduction bill already passed in the House.

Democratic leaders, including Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., disagree, and predict the Senate will pass such a bill this spring.

Surrounded by reporters from around the world, including many who believe global warming is real, Inhofe often looked like a lamb on his way to slaughter.

One reporter asked Inhofe “What do you tell the children who have to live in a nightmare world. What should we tell them about your country being a heroin addict on fossil fuel? Answer the question!”

“Most of you are on the far left side, so listen closely. I contend the consensus is not there, and it wasn’t there prior to Climate-gate.”

“Nothing binding will come out of here in my opinion, and if it does it will be rejected by the American people.”

Inhofe is the second member of congress to arrive in Copenhagen. Kerry addressed reporters last night and got a standing ovation inside the Bella Convention Center. By contrast, Inhofe was mobbed inside the press center and was not offered a speaking slot.

If that is true, and if the US ALSO somehow avoids passing ObamaCare, it might be time to sell my precious metals, and Hard Currency Funds.

Of course, the useless, “professional” political class will find any number of additional ways to keep us in hideous debt anyway.

Inhofe has been a real light in the darkness on this issue. He exhibiting the kind of courage which is sadly lacking in all but a select few in DC.

At least Jim has the balls to be there on the scene fighting for us. Lindsey sissy boy Graham is undermining America by trying to compromise on this hoax and change crappola. SC people need to wake up and get rid of him.

If you add in all the unfunded liabilities like Socialist (in)Security, Medicare and Medicaid, plus Fannie and Freddie demanding another $400 bl each, we are so far in debt now I can't see any way we will ever pay our way out of it. I firmly believe this whole mess is going to blow up. It's just a matter of time.

It would take massive cuts in Federal spending and that ain't ever gonna happen. The only other way is for the gubmint to default, which I think is becoming more likely with every passing day, and/or create hyper inflation through monetizing the debt. The latter is likely to happen before the default regardless. IMO, those who invest in land and lead will suffer less than the rest....

Sen. Inhofe was on the radio this morning. He said several years ago he sounded the alarm, after several scientist had contacted him with their concerns.

That is definitely true.

He has been stalwart and vocal about this mother of all socialist scams for years.

Public servants like Senator Inhofe are the ONLY reason that gives my slight pause when it comes to term limits.

There aren't many in the Senate worth keeping, but Inhofe is certainly one of them. Coburn, too. Funny how they both hail from Oklahoma. Most of the rest of the Senate isn't worth a plug nickle.....

Clinton, who is one of six cabinet members accompanying Obama to the climate summit, said climate change “is an undeniable and unforgiving fact.”

I haven't figured out whether Hillary believes what she is saying of just parroting the party line. Of course, libs will follow wrong-way-willie over a cliff if it will advance their goals.

Not sure either. She chose to write about Saul Alinsky for her senior thesis at Wellesley College . Maybe just using a means to an end, very Alinsky-like.

Her husband was in the white-house when Enron came up with the cap and trade thing.

Even if we had a president with a brain and a congress with brains seated tomorrow I doubt that they could get us out of this debt trap without defaulting on at least part of it. It takes time to turn a ship around even if you fly the world’s best captain aboard.

With the current collection of dingbats, nicompoops and cretins led by Hopealong Changeady future default seems a certainty.
