Palin supports McCain '100 percent' [Palin pushes back at TMZ 'disprespect' meme]
Politico ^ | Dec. 16, 2009 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/16/2009 4:38:39 PM PST by Al B.

Declaring that she “was honored and proud to run with him,” former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.

The website TMZ accused Palin of “a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain” during a Hawaii vacation this week: “Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.”

But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to “be incognito” -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.

The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.

Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: “I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

...and kids under age would also be targeted.

And it is the parents' responsibility to teach their children to refrain from consuming dangerous substances, is it not?

If Arizona has open laws, what prevents people from other states from swooping in to partake from states that don’t.

The fact that if you import the controlled substance into a state that prohibits possession, you would be in violation of that state's laws.

Hayworth is a strong conservative and wrote a book about safe borders. McCain?

Ah yes, McCain.

The guy who likes to pal around with ACORN/SEIU, La Raza, and Albanian terrorists linked to al-Qaeda.

Thanks for the comments. I can see a lot of room for agreement with them.

If you have a link to a thread where you exchanged views with Bokababe, I’d enjoy reviewing it.

Defining yourself relative to the Democrats means jack squat to me.

In lots of ways, I agree with you. We should be able to present conservatism as an alternative, not just a lesser liberal approach. I'm with you there.

Here is where we depart: Sometimes it's clearly better to vote for muddled rather than something that approaches evil. I think that happens more in our world than not and we have to deal with it. I would prefer that not be true, in my ideal world it wouldn't be true.

Reagan said it something like this (And no, he's NOT a RINO): Don't let the perfect get in the way of the good.

Thanks for your additional comments. I generally agree with them. I do want to make sure folks don’t become “Tiger Woods” type fans here though.

That sounds like an insult, but don’t take it that way. The reason folks are angry with him, is because he became their hero. Nobody should become something bigger than life to people.

Sarah is a good person. I like her a lot. She still shouldn’t be Sarah America to people. It’s just my opinion, but I think that sort of thing demonstrates a tendency to object when people make sound comments about her. She should have our respect, but not our adoration.

I’m sorry if that casts you unfairly, but from our previous discussion, I think you’ll know my hearts in the right place here, and you’ll understand what I am saying here without seeing it as an attack.

Well, it’s nice to say that parents should be able to teach their kids to refrain, but it’s not reality. Peer pressure and the ability to deliver drugs in amazingly small delivery systems, makes it near impossible for parents to be successfully attain their goal.

Actually, as it relates to beer, you can go to a 3.2 state and buy when your 18. Then you can transport it back to your home state. Yes it’s illegal, but it takes place none the less.

Some folks will transport drugs back to the home state, and try to sell it.

It’s causes me consternation, but it is not the end of the world, and it won’t cause me to not vote for her if indeed she gets the nod.

>>>> "'You got to dance with them what brung you'" <<<<

You got that right!

Anyway, Governor Sarah Palin is naturally waaaaay too classy to EVER do anything even remotely negative or lacking 100% respect when it comes to Senator John McCain.

That's just the way she is, at an essential deep level.

Now.... her supporters, that's a different matter altogether. LOL

Myself, what angers my most about John McCain, well other than that frightful daughter of his, is that he trusted all the Romney KOOKs, even going so far as to call Mittie's campaign manager Meg Whitman wise. LOL

Oh well, RINOs will be RINOs....

I honestly don’t think my and other people’s criticism of this, should be taken for animus toward her.

Some of it shouldn't be taken that way and some of it should. We will all decide for ourselves which is which.

Folks said that Iraq wasn’t involved in 09/11, and was not an anti-American threat. Strangely enough, tens of thousands of terrorists disagreed enough to die on the soil of Iraq fighting our troops.

I don't disagree. But the real reason for Iraq is simple, regardless of the stated cause: It is far easier to kill them in a sandbox than in the rocky crags of Afghanistan. That simple logic was a master stroke as far as I am concerned.

Yet that is where the logic stopped. Americans have always required a just cause and dire purpose in order to go to war. Yet we kill Al Queda in Iraq and Afghanistan with one hand, and are allied to them in Albania, Chechnya, and Kosovo with the other. And while Washington proclaims the terrible threat of terrorists on American soil, that damnable southern border remains wide open, and wholly undefended. It makes no sense.

What about the Christians being slaughtered in Ethiopia and the Sudan by the self same terrorist network? We sit and twiddle our thumbs. All of Africa is tipping over. Whole nations... We do nothing.

Either this radical network is the enemy they proclaim, and we fight them tooth and nail on every front, or their threat to us is not as advertised and this is all a play for power on a massive global scale.

Alot of what you said is true - But we are a long way from the original Conservative ideal: Back in the day, Reagan convinced Gorbachev to stand down because "America doesn't start wars", and Gorbachev believed him... Would anyone believe that today?

These are among the things that civil libertarians would point to in their objections, and they have a legitimate objection. That is why I stated that a Conservative at the helm would have placated them greatly. Most of what I have mentioned above would have been different.

LOL. No problem, D1, and absolutely no offense taken by me.

I can safely call her Sarah America without a worry about her being a Tiger Woods or me being a Tiger type fan.

I don't do the "fan" thing and if there's anything remaining that's still unknown about Sarah, I will be literally stunned.

It is my hope and prayer that she wins the big one for the Gipper. *wink*

If Jim Robinson wants to support Sarah Palin, that is his own right. However, I can not in good conscience support her...

And this is all anybody on this forum needs to know about you.

Yeah, if I can stomach Hunter endorsing Huck and DeMint endorsing Flipper than I can cut her the same slack, despite her over-enthusiasm.

Chunga, I have had people here tell me what my motivations were in the past. I’m not saying that’s what you’re doing here now, but it does amuse me when it is tried on me.

I don’t attribute that to you here, because there are others and you may genuinely not be referring to me in your comment. Keep that in mind as I forgo reading your mind, to talk of others who do try to read minds.

When people try to read other people’s minds to determine motivations, I think it’s a mistake. Perceptions may or may not be true. That’s why I urge people to look at comments and try to evaluate them against the factual thing they’re leveled at.

Take care.

But why does that only ever apply to the right? I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily, but something is obviously badly broken when we have to compromise to avoid disaster and they don't.
