Don't be naieve, the RNC recognizes the power of the Tea Party Movement. I haven't heard any of them disavow their "moderate" actions. Have you? Have you heard any of them admit their deviation from republican principles?
The RNC would love to steer the movement, they haven't given up the belief that they are the anointed, and destined to lead.

Have you heard any of them admit their deviation from republican principles? Steele is quoted as admitting that very thing in the article:
"Steele said he offered a "mea culpa" to tea partiers since the beginning of this term, agreeing with them that the party had abandoned its conservative "principles."
