Any answer to Oprah's grade question would bring carping
As much as we like to see politicians give straightforward answers, there are moments when the best course is to decline to comment, or to take the conversation in another direction.
When Bill Clinton was asked, "Boxers or briefs?," he should have waited for the laughter to die down before gently scolding the young woman for the inappropriateness of the question.
When Oprah Winfrey asked President Obama, "What grade would you give yourself for your first year?," I'm not sure there was an answer he could have given that wouldn't have stirred up criticism.
If Obama had said, "A-plus," even his wife would have told him he was delusional. If he had given himself anything lower than a B, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News would have called for immediate impeachment hearings. I can hear Rush now: "By giving himself a C-minus, the president is virtually admitting he's trying to destroy America!"
So Obama told Oprah he'd give himself a "good, solid B-plus" -- and the hounds immediately started barking, saying the president should give himself a "D" for "delusional."
Of course, if Obama had said something like, "Let's leave it up to the American people to decide what grade I should receive," or, "Look, I can't get caught up in grading my own performance, other than to say I believe I deserve an A for effort and I hope to merit an A for accomplishments in the years to come," he would have been criticized for refusing to answer directly.

You just "have your head down, trying to do the best you can for the American people, each and every day."
Oddly enough, Obama couldn't say that. He just gave himself a swell grade and let it go at that.
Within less than a year, Obama has become America’s First Failed Black Pres-dent.....
The correct answer for a President who is asked to grade his own performance is to say that only history will be able to tell and move on.
Self praise is no praise, however that doesn’t apply to the narcissist-in-chief. He is a total moron.
A D- or F would have done the trick.
BULLSTALIN.
The whole "boxers/brief" was a Clinton-coordinated media moment.
The girl who asked it was a daughter of a journalist (SeeBS reporter?) and they'd settled on a question about legalizing the recreational use of drugs.
The Clinton team reviewed her question and rejected it, they asked for "something lighter" which was "boxers or briefs".
That the media continues to spin this as "just" the dopey question of a dopey student is pure BULLSTALIN.
No one got on Viacommie MTV at the townhall meeting without review.
He probably went to a progressive school where the kids were allowed to grade their own papers.
Roeper fails to catch on to the true arrogance of the grade answer. Consider that if we’re giving presidents letter grades, George Washington and Abe Lincoln would get an A+. So Obama is saying that if he gets his health care bil through, he deserves to be half a grade lower than the greatest presidents who ever lived. Now, even if the health care bill was great stuff instead of the totalitarina nightmare we’re seeing...half a grade under George Washington? Really?
It's odd how the MSM feels they can still get away with lying to us when the internet exists.
I suspect they feel it's a question of "numbers" - but it's not. How many times do you have "discover" someone is lying to you before you quit trusting them? The MSM thinks it's in the thousands - it's NOT - probably fewer than 10 times... much fewer.
Thanks for sharing - didn't know the full story on that question.
The mother and daughter were interviewed at one time.
Hey, they still insist that Woodstock was a peaceful good vibe event when tens of thousands of outsiders busted down the fences, liberals burned down the burger guy's food stand (that he'd paid the promoters to allow him to set up), the Black Panthers and Abbie Hoffman extorted $10,000 out of the backers to not disrupt the event (and then Abbie Hoffman rushed the stage during the Who's set anyway), and some other famous liberals attempted to steal by force the film crew's rented equipment (while it was locked and guarded in a trailer).
ALL TIME Great Lies of the MSM.
I'd buy a copy.
