Pigs 'R' Flyin: Lib Obama Judge Is Racist Villain In TV Drama (Debbie Schlussel Alert)

I thought I was dreaming, last night, when I watched the latest episode of the CBS legal drama, “The Good Wife,” and the villain was a racist, crooked, LIBERAL judge. It’s one of the only shows I watch anymore on prime time TV. Ostensibly, the show is about a scorned wife, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), whose politico husband (Chris Noth) is caught in an Elliot Spitzer-style affair and scandal and sent to jail, and how she must pick up the pieces and go back to work as a lawyer. But, really, it harkens back to one of those serious legal dramas from the ’80s a la “L.A. Law.” It’s not sophisticated and doesn’t pretend to be. But it’s CBS’ top-rated new show.

On last night’s episode, a liberal judge (played by Tony Goldwyn, grandson of Samuel Goldwyn of MGM fame) who is friends with Barack Obama, discriminates against Black juvenile offenders. He sends them to long prison sentences, sparing the White kids juvie time and sentencing them to probation. And in a “ripped from the headlines” moment, he is also sending all the kids to a privately run detention facility and taking kickbacks to pay off his gambling habit. It’s a riff off the case in Pennsylvania, in which a liberal judge was doing the same (taking the kickbacks from the juvie center, but not a racist–he sent all the kids to hard time for petty, trivial crimes, regardless of their race.)

Of course, the boss-lady who was offered the judgeship was lauded for her devotion to Emily's list by the female chief justice.

Fair and balanced.

Its rare in Hollywood for liberals to be portrayed as scum. The heavy is usually a conservative ogre. That's gotten to be a cliche since its so predictable.

Yes, that was a pleasant surprise since the show is supposedly set in Chicago. I liked the way the bad judge showed off his photos of President Obama and Senator Burriss to prove he wasn’t a racist. Nice touch...

Which makes it possible this was a business decision.

I’ve been reading about Law and Order’s ratings tanking recently, the more rabidly liberal the plots become.

Perhaps the creators of this show want to do a Fox News and grab some “controversy” ratings. You can bet the scuttlebutt will be going round and drawing eyeballs.

True, she was praised for having all the “proper” points of view, but she soured on the prospect when it became transparently clear that the Dem politicians recruiting her were just sewer=dwelling hacks incapable of truth and honesty.

I’ve grown to enjoy the writing on this show, but the opening few minutes had me gritting my teeth in anticipation. Imagine my astonishment when a PC Obamaton turned out to be nothing more than a corrupt little creep!

The Dem posture of the characters was on display, and the brickbats were all going in their direction.

I tell you it was like an out-of-body experience. The show definitely earned a few more episodes from me.

A great episode of a terrific show.

I love Juliana, and hope she gets a Golden Globe for her performances in “The Good Wife.”
