Israel Border Police officers shot at an American student's laptop as she entered Israel via Taba, Egypt, two weeks ago.
Lily Sussman, 21, wrote on her blog that border police subjected her to two hours of questioning and searches prior to shooting her Apple Macbook three times.
"They had pressed every sock and scarf with a security device, ripped open soap and had me strip extra layers. They asked me tons of questions? where are you going?" Sussman wrote, describing the experience.

Not a Panasonic Toughbook.
First, I completely agree with Freitass comment. These guys shoot every day at unarmed people, even children. Why so much surprise about a simple laptop?
He must have downloaded the bible onto that laptop.
And there it is. I admire the Israeli border agents for having excellent intuition.

dayum. they went all William Tel Aviv on that apple n’ junk.
When I was in college (many, many moons ago...about 35 years ago to be exact) I took a trip to the Holy Land. We landed in Jordan and then after a few days went to Israel. The security was unbelievable as we passed the border. They took things apart (i.e. hair dryers, cassette recorders, etc.) and handed them back to you in pieces. It was all part of security measures at the time. Shooting the laptop seems a little extreme though.
A “US Student”?
Rachel Corrie wannabe?
Suspect the latter...
Too bad the police
Did not have a Bulldozer
To crush that laptop...
Many stated if there is more to this story, You can safely bet there is a lot more to this story.
Remember some have a martyr mentality and will do anything to provoke the Israeli police or border guard to make them look bad.
But, I suspect that she was on a list of people who had published something on the Internet that was considered anti-Israeli.
The post she had stating

indicates that she considers the Israeli government to be a terrorist organization.
That problem should be covered under warranty, right?
I think she’s a spoiled Israel hating white American brat. She was probably baiting security just so she could scream about her human rights. I’ll bet security got an ear and belly full of her crap before they took it out on her computer.
And she lived in Egypt and had quite a few radical Muslim instruction materials with her (see article).
Winner!
