GOP Sen. Collins: Health bill is 'too deeply flawed for me to support it'
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/15/2009 | Byron York

Posted on 12/15/2009 6:04:16 PM PST by SeattleBruce

"I don't see voting for the current bill that is on the floor, even with the improvements that have been made," Collins said. "I'm very leery of the impact of nearly $500 billion in Medicare cuts, particularly the cuts in home health care, which are completely counterproductive to the goal of lowering costs."

Collins explained that she is continuing to work on the bill not because she intends to vote for it but because, "I think something is going to pass, and I would like to make that bill as good as possible, even if ultimately it's not a bill that I can support."

Sure.

Collins says the bill is 'too flawed' for her to vote for it. The idiot could change her mind several times between now and bedtime. The only thing you can rely on her to be is unreliable.

Yes, democrats ruin everything, but this close to Christmas is insulting on every front. Delay (and I don’t mean Tom) is our friend and since it cannot be passed before Christmas, it’s blatantly repugnant to keep the senate in session next week. They need to get out of there by the December 23, at the latest.

I vaguely recall something about that weird religion of hers, but she disgusts me to no end, that I cannot bear to endure watching her or watching anything about her. She made me sick the first time I saw her; campaigning for husband Mike Huffington.

Health bill is 'too deeply flawed for me to support it'....

....but some subsidies for the timber industry, or maybe a few hundred million to study the mating patterns of the Bah Hahbah Green Lobstah would help take the sting off it.

Even if Snowe doesn’t vote for it, they are only one or at most two votes away from passage.

That only will take about a week of arm twisting to get, and it will pass.

Even if there were two or three more undecideds, this likely wouldn’t pass. But, two is just too easy to pull off. You usually can get a few to switch, and in a situation like this, it seems almost certain.

That doesn’t mean give up....keep the fire on Nelson and Lieberman and Snowe.

If two of the three stand firm, this turkey won’t pass.

Even many Democrats (Dean) are now calling for the bill’s defeat - not leftist enough. What an ironic turn of events.

LOL! Waaaay too many people with that attitude on FR these days.

I swear some of these people would like to run tea party candidates on a third party ticket against people like Judd Gregg or John Cornyn. It’s absurd.

I agree - and you know what's even worse? There seems to be some evidence that, in some districts at least, the Tea Party movement is being coopted by socially-liberal libertarian types, so that if they run a candidate, it will likely be some socially-liberal idjit. Not only would they be splitting the vote and handing the election to a Dem, but THEY'D be the ones running a RINO to do it!

Funny huh? I heard Anthony Weiner on Fox this AM and you could tell he was not happy. It was all this little red Diaper Doper communist could do to hold his tongue.
