...As Alan I. Leshner, who heads the American Association for the Advancement of Science, wrote in The Washington Post recently: "It is wrong to suggest that apparently stolen e-mails ... somehow refute a century of evidence based on thousands of studies. ... Doubters insist that the Earth is not warming.
This is in stark contrast to the consensus of 18 of the world's most respected scientific organizations, who strongly stated in an Oct. 21 letter to the U.S. Senate that human-induced climate change is real.
Still, the doubters try to leverage any remaining points of scientific uncertainty about the details of warming trends to cast doubt on the overall conclusions shared by traditionally cautious, decidedly nonradical science organizations such as the National Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science." ...Long ago, Cicero suggested a mysterious public act could be best assessed by asking this: Who benefits? Is it really any accident that Palin and most of the GOP lawmakers trying to discredit the science on global warming come from states enriched by petroleum production and industries with sizable carbon footprints? (The delegate from Saudi Arabia has taken a similar position at Copenhagen.)

Wow! A WHOLE 18?
Who benefits IS a good question...isn’t it Al Bore and General Electric that have the biggest financial gains at stake?
Just why is it that liberal reporters will ONLY look at one side of the issue?
Did you also apply this long ago logic to Al Gore, Timmy?
An appeal to authority, the reporter won’t really look into the destruction of science that went on in East Anglia, AGW is real because they said so!
Don’t worry, non-reporter, plenty of people are looking into it and those that have are finding it worse than even the emails revealed at second glance.
“Just why is it that liberal reporters will ONLY look at one side of the issue?”
The answer is in your question.
Hint: It starts with an ‘L’.
uhhh, not really — When the emails and software show the two centuries of research were a fraud.
Sure kill for the AGW fraud, ask to see evidence of the CO2 hot spot, you know, Al Gore’s warm blanket, which is totally missing in multiple attempts to find it. That alone is enough to falsify the notion that CO2 causes anything, except plants to grow.
I posted this reply:
The people benefitting from the climate scam are the researchers behind the scams - they have gotten millions in research grants, and innumerable prizes and recognitions. And Algore. He is a millionaire from his carbon trading scheme, already selling credits. He claims to be “carbon neutral.” Guess where he buys his credits? From his own corporation. Sorry, but this is all an international conspiracy, and the jig is up. These same people (especially Hansen) pulled the same scam in the ‘70s, with the impending ice age. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. These guys now deny the cooling they claimed then didn’t happen. Were you lying then or are you lying now?
Eugenics is also over 100 years old and was bogus (and led to horrible socialist death schemes in Germany, the United States, and elsewhere).
Shall we look to other “studies” that scientists pushed in the 20th Century?
William Reich’s Orgone accumulator?
The coming ice age?
ZPG Zero Population Growth?
Another Climidiot!
If the science was valid they wouldnt have to hide it would they? If the science is valid why do none of the models accurately predict the present cooling?
“Who benefits IS a good question...isnt it Al Bore and General Electric that have the biggest financial gains at stake?”
Don’t forget George Soros.
Let’s raise our game: Cui bono?
Watch out ZPG is making a come back!
We must trust the scientists, even when they are lying to us!
Carbon Credit Hedge Fund companies and investment firms. Carbon Default Swaps is the new Credit Default Swaps. Fannie & Freddie Redux. thanks, Ken Lay, Joyce Fund, 0bama.
“Gore Invests In Carbon Credit Company, Will Media Care?”
By Noel Sheppard (Bio | Archive)
June 4, 2008
“Generation Investment Management, the private equity fund chaired by former U.S. vice president Al Gore, has acquired a 9.5 percent stake in Camco International Ltd, a carbon asset developer.
Generation, set up in 2004 by Gore and David Blood, former chief of Goldman Sachs’s asset management arm, now holds 16 million Camco shares, Camco said in a statement.
Camco, which has one of the world’s largest carbon credit portfolios, works with companies to identify and develop projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and then arranges the sale and delivery of carbon credits.”
“Consensus” does not make for scientific proof
don’t believe your own shivering skin! Believe our scientific and political babble!
Al, baby, it ain't the "emails" that are the problem, it is the data, and the software used to "massage" it. And those doubters include quite prominent people at CRU, as they themselves admit in their "once-private" emails.
Maybe Al needs a new job, as he is CERTAINLY not qualified to head up a science-based organization.
