Saudi Arabia uses fighter jets against Yemeni Houthi rebels. Both Yemen & Saudi Arabia accuse Iran of arming the rebels. Why did Arab satellites carriers drop Iranian Al Alam TV? And will the war of proxies lead to a confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran ?

Sunni vs. Shiite. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The day the Iranians test a nuke, the Saudis will pay whatever it takes to buy them from Pakistan and/or North Korea.

Yemeni Shi’ite Cleric and Houthi Disciple ‘Issam Al-’Imad: Our Leader Houthi is Close to Khamenei...

Posted on November 3, 2009 1:22:05 PM PST by Cindy

SNIPPET: “Yemeni Shi’ite Cleric and Houthi Disciple ‘Issam Al-’Imad: Our Leader Houthi is Close to Khamenei; We Are Influenced Religiously and Ideologically By Iran”

SNIPPET: “On September 28, 2009, the Iranian website ayandenews.com, which is affiliated with former IRGC commander Mohsen Rezai, published an interview with cleric ‘Issam Al-’Imad, who is a disciple of Hussein Al-Houthi, leader of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. [1] Al-’Imad, who was born 1968 in Yemen, received his religious education in Saudi Arabia, but after studying Shi’ite Islam left Wahhabism to become a Twelver Shi’ite. Since1989 he has been pursuing advanced Islamic studies in the holy city of Qom in Iran. [2]

In the interview, Al-Imad describes the religious, ideological, and political affinity that has evolved between the Yemeni Houthis and the Iranian regime, saying that the Houthis have effectively converted from Zaidi Shi’a to Twelver Shi’a, which is Iran’s official religion. [3] He adds that Houthi leaders have visited and lived in Qom, that their leader Hussein Al-Houthi considers Ayatollah Khomeini to be a model for emulation, and that Al-Houthi’s relationship with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is similar to Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s.

Following are excerpts from the interview:”

Yes, and hopefully mecca and medina would be first strikes from Iran.

Unfortunately, the great whore that is the US government will never allow anything to happen to saudi arabia.

Let them blow one another up.

All this would be great if we liked $8 gas. Why, oh why aren't we drilling in Alaska and off the east and west coast? That alone would fix MANY problems in the world.

A little trouble in Russia, how about the rags going back to eating sand? Stabilizing the dollar, putting South America( read Hugo Chavez) losing influence.

I can't think of one downside from us drilling and producing our own energy.

Back in the 1970s it was believed that the continental U.S. had little to no oil deposits left to exploit. So Saudi Arabia was important to our energy needs.

Now we know better!

The saudis believe manual labor is religiously beneth them. Who in the hell is going to fight an actual war? Most of their military is just there to act as a personal protection force for the royals.

Obama will be the great mediator. He will sit down with leaders from both countries and convince them that it is foolish to direct their anger at one another....when they can direct their anger at Israel and the U.S. instead. Then he’ll apologize for America again and start foolishly bowing to both.

IF we ever had a President with a pair, he/she would give an ultimatum to the biggest supporter and facilitator of the faux-cum-cult Religion, ISLAM, and tell the house of Saud that if they did not stop promoting and financing Islamic-Jihadist groups and schools in the US, we would pull all military protection and they can defend their own sorry butts.

Of course that would only work if we were to embark on a crash course of developing and recovering our vast reserves of oil and gas.

That would be a win-win situation, but sadly will never happen.

Donning my tinfoil hat, I am convinced that there is some (maybe a lots) of Saudi (and OPEC) $$$ being used somehow (in addition to lobbyist)to influence Congress and others to obstruct and prevent our becoming energy independent--and I don't mean wind and solar.

I can't think of one downside from us drilling and producing our own energy.

Our enemies, the Communists, can and they control the House, Senate and Executive office. Look at what the Democrats have been doing for the last seventy years and the answer is obvious.

Well, every Saudi prince drives a fighter (or so it is said). It isn’t as great a deterrent as you might think, since it takes a significant compliment of American expats embedded in the formations to shepherd Allah’s Air Force about the skies. Obviously, it is not quite as selective a process for the local talent as we are used to in the States.

You’re right though, the “warrior ethic” requires a certain degree of diligence and willingness to get your hands dirty that is not immediately apparent in the Saudi citizenry (terrorist suicide factions excluded of course).
