HOUSTON (AP) - Annise Parker has an unbeatable lead over Gene Locke in Houston's hotly contested mayoral election, meaning she will become the city's first openly gay mayor.

The Harris County elections Web site says 53.62 percent of voters who turned out Saturday chose Parker.

Her rival, former city attorney Gene Locke, was pitching to become the city's second black mayor.

Clinton already holds the title of first openly adultress president. We all knew about Genifer Flowers long before the election.

40+ years ago it was a concentrated and known homosexual area. There’s lot’s of businesses in that area and lot’s of money.

I don’t hear much news about gay activity being open as in other cities.

This new mayor will bring ‘em outa the woodwork more than likely.

I live in the south suburbs and glad I didn’t “get” to vote in this one. Was a real tossup with neither candidate really acceptable. And they already have a Gay Pride parade. Liberal isn’t the word for it - that’s why I moved out. A chunk of the population is gay and there are a whole lot of illegals. Certainly the Katrina refugees hasn’t helped the crime situation any. They have severe money problems and have not had a good mayor for a very long time. Although they have a city council - with at least two other gay members - the mayor rules the roost. Suspect the first thing you will see go are any arrests of the gay population for anything. The policemen backed the other candidate so it’s going to be a rough ride. Current police chief should have been fired a long time ago and wonder how much the fact that he is Black had to do with it. Current mayor - Bill White - is going to run for Governor next year.

Mayor Brown was a disaster, which I suspect was a factor in the "black vote" thing. There's the pity, too, when it comes to Obama - the next guy to come along who happens to look like him will have that legacy to overcome.

What the hell happenned to Houston? Katrina forced migration?

I really doubt those Katrina refugees in Houston voted for the white lesbian over the even more liberal African American man.

The new mayor will fire the chief. My money’s on a “gay” chief being selected followed by “gay” officers being elevated to positions of authority within the dept.

Why does this woman have the need to describe what she eats at bedtime when running for mayor?

What worries me more: Why is the MSM so hung up on this: It's the lesbo against the black guy, just forget about the issues. In 2007/2008 it was Afro-American (Obama) vs. Gyno-American (Clinton) vs. Geronto-American (McCain) vs. Mormo-American (Romney). What will it be in 2012? The babe vs. the half-black guy?

Is Houston like our Northern cities: Liberal in a Conservative state?

True, true, true. Last year, we moved out of Houston, after 20+ years.

Repeated democrat mayors, sanctuary city status for illegals, Katrina evacuees, high crime, etc.

Life is much better where we now live. When we go into Houston, there is always a higher alert condition. We go from yellow to RED.

Houston has had an annual homosexual pride day for maybe 20 years or more. Makes the nightly news and many normal people act like homosexual pride is a normal thing.

More or less. Its completely overrun with illegals and third-worlders of every description. The demographics are something like 45% Hispanic and 25% Black.

Recently, an illegal alien killed a HPD patrolman. Normally, this is a capital offense, but the heavily hispanic jury decided on life in prison. Anyone else would've gotten the needle.
