I’m no stranger to NJ...my first ex wife was from Cape May...beautiful piece of country. In the fall of both 2007 and 2008, I was sent up to work in and around NYC for a couple of months, and while I didn’t think much of Newark, I set up shop in a hotel in Piscataway, and liked the area...well...as much as one can like NJ, I supppose ;-)

Piscataway is kind of ho-hum, but nowhere near as bad as Newark, Irvington, or Camden. The REALLY nice parts of New Jersey are in the north-central, and nortwest parts of the states, west on I-80 and I-78.

Cape May (which is south of the Mason Dixon line, btw) is very nice. Stay away from Wildwood slightly upshore, however, unless you want to attend a mullet convention (and I'm not talking about the fish). The Jersey Shore has nicer beaches than most of Florida and all of California, IMHO.
