Now I'm hopeless?!
I am not an atheist. I find organized religion a tribal effort. I may be an agnostic but I'm not ever sure that's true. I do know that whateve I believe in I keep to myself.
You will tell me this is hostile, I'm sure, but these public prayers on FR annoy me. If these people are so keeping to the bible maybe they should read Matthew 6:6. They'll read it, but will still put their piousness online.
Hang in there.
creepy
Don't preach to me. You have your thing. I have mine.
God is all you have. Believe me. I’ve been there.
See if you can find YOURSELF in there.
Thanks. Am I in danger?
Puhleeeeze. You know nothing about me. Where do you think I’ve been?
Truth, Justice, and the American Way!
I’m Catholic, and rather than “fringe”, I would I consider myself an independent conservative. I don’t support RINOs like McCain. I believe political correctness and multiculturism are cancers on society. Am I still allowed to post here?
I work from home. The 7th day adventists knock on my door every week.
do they have my
‘answer”?
God gave you a mind to know that. I don’t know.
Than why do you think you can advise me?
No...i said “No one is ever hopeless” That includes you (btw you were the one that used the term hopeless first).
You comment about public prayers is not hostile. But it does show a misunderstanding. For me, and most of us, it is not “to be seen by men” (which is what Jesus is complaining about, the Pharisees who prayed and beat their breasts in public to show their piety in Matthew Chapter 6), rather it is a show of support and love.
I suppose you think that pastors should not pray aloud in Church with their congregations, since that too would be “showing piety”.
You may not claim to be an Atheist, but you sure show the outward markings, imo.
...”it is not a measure of our deviation into some fringe, but the movement of the masses away from our position, much as the tide might ebb from an island and leave it tied to the mainland.”
Exactly right!
As have I, eyedigress.
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
“pray for each other” doesn’t supercede 6;6 where Jesus says pray in private. You can pray in private for each other. But i guess it’s better if you show how pious you are in front of everyone. I have no real problem with it except that a whole lot of people claim to follow the scripture to the letter.
I am advising you I guess because I was on the brink of nothing 12 years ago. I prayed very hard and went through many trials before my feet were given back to me. I was a guy with alot of power at the time. It was a lesson of discipline.
No. It is what it is. Jesus said to pray in private. Period. It cannot be interpreted any othe way.
