Passion Fades for Barack Obama, The Perfect Poster Boy [Disappointment to EuroFools}

Passion Fades for Barack Obama, The Perfect Poster Boy Like many others, I fell for Barack Obama somewhere in the middle of Bush's second term, writes Gill Hornby.

By Gill Hornby 11 Dec 2009

I've probably been in denial for a few months now. Turning a blind eye, trying not to overreact to the little things, even though all the signs were there. But now it might just be time to face up to it. Another political love affair is over. Another one has let me down. President Obama's acceptance speech at the Nobel Prize ceremony wasn't the last straw, not exactly. And it certainly wasn't his fault that he won the damned thing.

But the text of it – "Some will kill, and some will be killed" – and the headlines – "Obama Defends War as he Picks up Peace Prize": well, it's not exactly what we were hoping for, back in those heady early days. It's change, all right. Just not quite the one we were after. Like many others, I fell for Barack Obama somewhere in the middle of Bush's second term.

One reading of Dreams from My Father, and that was it. A bumper sticker went on the car ("I Got a Crush on Obama"), posters went up in the kitchen, and we gave up domestic news bulletins for CNN and Fox. It was an obsession: David Cassidy all over again. But say what you like about David Cassidy – he never fudged around on the closure of Guantanamo Bay. Or spent weeks dithering about his policy in Afghanistan, and then came up with a solution that pleased none of the people, none of the time.

Sadly, the things they are disappointed over are the few things he is getting right.

The Europiggies helped pay to get this weasel elected and now WE are stuck with him. This is why foreign money should not be allowed in American poltiics.

Evidently critical thinking skills are to be avoided at all costs.

Can’t feel sorry for these idiots who are still pining (whining) for a liberal messiah just because this one’s another empty suit.

I just thought of the perfect analogy for this whole Obama thing. Watching those that fell in love with Obama was like watching your teenaged daughter fall for the guy that is the flaky tatoo’d guitar player in a bad band. She thinks he’s just “soooooo cool” and even though to you he is transparent as glass and you know where it is going, sometimes all you can do is let their relationship take it’s course.

I voted. Now all I can do is watch this take its natural course, which is clearly what is happening.

The agonizing comments on that forum are hilarious; all the Kool-Aid drinks have reached the bottom of the glass.

The funny thing is that the Europeans have caught on faster than the Libs.

I was confused too. Gill is a she. And some think the 19th Amendment was progress.

It's the consequence of political Manichaeism - if, after sufficient repetition, you have convinced yourself that GW Bush was evil incarnate and that his every action was wrong, you become susceptible to the suggestion that anyone running as the anti-Bush must necessarily do only right. That "change" can only be change for the better. That "hope" may take the place of qualification and accomplishment. One is occasionally shocked to see this level of naivete in an adult but this is, after all, a notably infantile age populated by superannuated adolescents who still really do have their David Cassidy posters.

And so, yes, occupying the office of the President of the United States is a prettily-wrapped package that turned out to be empty. One pities the dupes who gaze at it, hoping that somehow a miracle will fill it. The two constants in the affair are that the package will remain empty and that they will remain dupes.

Another far-left loon for whom Obamsky is not leftie enough. He’ll be back praising the Comrade in 2012 when he is running against Sarah.

King Obama is just a figurehead of the Communists Party (Formally the Democratic Party). He is a empty headed nitwit that has to read what is written for him by the organizations that are controlling the takeover of America. Think not?

How romantic, just like Cyrano de Bergerac

Did a man write this? It’s just embarrassing. It’s like some sort of junior high school girl wrote it.
