Melodee Hanes, Baucus' former state director and now his live-in girlfriend, reportedly met at least twice with the Montana Democrat's divorce attorney to talk about the Baucuses' divorce eight months before the senator and his wife separated.
The last person to know that Sen. Max Baucus wanted a divorce may have been his wife of 25 years.
It appears that Wanda Baucus was in the dark even as a member of Baucus' staff -- Melodee Hanes, the woman who is now his live-in girlfriend -- was plotting out the senator's life without a wife.

I have yet to see this reported on the evening broadcast news shows. I don't see everyone, so it's possible I've missed it. But, you'd have to be a monk or cloistered nun to have missed the Sanford scandal.

Speaking of Nightline - they had a story on this week that started out on Tiger, but ended with politicians that have been caught. Of course, they began with "Mark Sanford, Republican Governor of South Carolina". They went on to Kwayme Kilpatrick and someone else I can't remember, but didn't name their political affiliation. Isn't that convenient?
There was no mention of the most natural comparison, Elliot Spitzer - who had numerous affairs as well as solicited the services of a prostitute, just like Tiger allegedly.
