Fast-Growing Christian Churches Crushed in China

LINFEN, China — Towering eight stories over wheat fields, the Golden Lamp Church was built to serve nearly 50,000 worshippers in the gritty heart of China's coal country.

But that was before hundreds of police and hired thugs descended on the mega-church, smashing doors and windows, seizing Bibles and sending dozens of worshippers to hospitals with serious injuries, members and activists say

Today, the church's co-pastors are in jail. The gates to the church complex in the northern province of Shanxi are locked and a police armored personnel vehicle sits outside.

The closure of what may be China's first mega-church is the most visible sign that the communist government is determined to rein in the rapid spread of Christianity, with a crackdown in recent months that church leaders call the harshest in years.

The Chinese Church is coming to resemble the ancient Church under Rome.

The Chinese gov’t is quickly losing ground. I've seen statistics that suggest that close to one in 4 in china is now a Christian. The communist party does not have that many members.

Boycot every Chinese product...and burn down their embassies...and stop the stupid charade that they are a decent nation...our peers.

Somehow I doubt the left-wing in this country is going to even care or notice. Just being Christian is enough to convict them with the same mindset as the Chinese communist government.

Interesting analogy. Persecuted but growing in China, while in the US and Europe it has become corpulant and foetid under the influence of happy happy, joy joy, kum bah ya moral relativism.

“I doubt the left-wing in this country is going to even care”

They blaze the way for leftists who praise China’s one child only or forced abortion policy. They probably envy the Chinese for being able to shut down churches. How progressive.

Our media keep trying to tell us that the Chinese Communist government isn’t really Communist any more. Just a bunch of smart business people.

Obama would probably love this. Wouldn’t he love to do the same thing here?

Really, a lot of them refuse to believe China even has forced abortions. And they compare some 14,000 Muslim terrorist attacks since 9/11 to Christians trying to protect crosses on public property, saying it’s similar to terrorism. A lot of those are outright atheists, of course, but generally the left doesn’t seem to mind them being part of their rank and file. It’s like the 1% of Muslims being terrorists and the another 90% or so not really minding it too much.

It won’t work, thug Chicoms. The more you persecute the Chinese Christians, the faster they grow and the sooner it will be that your Commie selves will out of power and hopefully working in the rice fields.... or fled the country.

I agree, Christianity actually thrives when it is under attack.

Did not work very well for stopping Christianity when the Romans tried it , did it? They will wish they had more Christians if Islam moves in to take its place!
