CNBC: All the Media Attention Could Actually Benefit Tiger Woods

There has been a lot of media focus dedicated to the alleged Tiger Woods scandal - even so much that when examined quantitatively, it overshadows more serious issues.

So what will the net result of this media scrutiny be for Tiger? CNBC's sports reporter, Darren Rovell, took at crack at answering that on the Dec. 10 broadcast of "Squawk Box."

"It's 12 straight days in the [New York] Post right now," Rovell said. "Everyday since Nov. 29, there's been a Tiger Woods story. When does it end? We don't know. I'm not going to get into the details of this, but from a business standpoint - how about Donald Trump on 'Extra' yesterday?"

Kinda counter to the threads from a couple days ago reporting advertisers dropping Tiger.

It might help him if he was on the bottom climbing to the top, but he's already on the top.

He's got nowhere to go but down, and it won't take long if he's been hitting the bottle and the crack pipe, like it sounds.

I don’t think so. He had a squeaky clean image that has now been besmirched. Sure, you can get away with being a dirtbag, as we see every day, but you have to start out that way.

His approvals #s have plunged from 70+ to 38%. I don’t think so.

CNBC is a contra indicator. When they say “buy” you know it’s time to sell.

CNBC: All the Media Attention Could Actually Benefit Tiger Woods,

You have to remember the media operates from a myopic view.

The bottom line is that it will affect his business simply because a lot of Americans will no longer buy what he's selling.

Probably both. If Tiger - or his lawyers - were smart, they’d use that golf club incident to make him a victim of “domestic violence/abuse”. Now that we know more, it’s obvious she wasn’t using that thing to help him out of the car like the original story claimed. They could probably even claim it’s been going on for a long time and that’s why he was running with all these other gals. Hey, maybe the mother-in-law was in on it, too. Ganging up on him. That’d be my story!

What a dopey contention.

He'll still make plenty of money from golf and golf equipment manufacturers, but he can say goodbye to all the AT&T, Accenture, Gillette, etc. product endorsement money.

He'll be selling condoms, bourbon and casinos.

LOL - like the proverbial shoe shine boy. When he says "buy", you sell.

What? Yes, Tiger will be better off after this. He’ll be divorced, and his ability to hustle chicks is going to vastly improve. Many women that were interested in him, but figured he was far to hard to get, now know they can have buck teeth and all, get a piece of him. Unfortunately, many colored girls will have their hearts broken, realizing that he’s just not into them. White trash yes, colored no.

Tiger, you’ve got it made!

Tiger needs to stay incognito,go back to court and change his name back to Eldrick. Give up his endorsements as much as possible and after a time go back and play golf.
